So my due date is Thursday and having a sweep tomorrow. What is the success rate of it working.

I'm not feeling very positive about it one will it hurt?

And for last couple of weeks I've had cramping on and off but it's seemed to of gone one due date is approaching.

I know I should focus too much on due date and I am more realistic that I will go overdue but it's very hard not to be excited and impatient lol.

Quite nervous about sweep

Hi , I am 32 weeks pregnant and my second pregnancy. I had a sweep with my first pregnancy and it didn't work or do anything. It doesn't hurt but I had like period pains afterwards. I know lots of people who have had a sweep but sadly I don't think it ever helps bring on labour. I wouldn't have one again as I have heard it can cause bleeding and I think if you're close to your due date, things will just happen. It's totally your choice though. Good luck whatever you decide.

It is pretty hard to know how effective it will be for you, as if you go into labour you will never know if you would have anyway. There is some statistical evidence that they might nudge people in the right direction if they are close to going into labour. They won't induce labour if you are far off being ready.

I had an attempted sweep with DD2 and found it agony. The mw couldn't even do an actual sweep because my cervix was so closed and posterior (went into labour 24 hours later). But I am weird and find all internals, etc agony. My smear was 5 years overdue until some lovely support on here meant I finally went and a combination of the lovely gentle nurse and the new 'brush' thing meant I was ok.

I had a sweep on my due date. It was uncomfortable but not painful and I didn't bleed. I went into labour 2 days later. Difficult to tell if it was because of the sweep or it would've happened anyway. I would have another. Good luck!

Heyy, I was due last Tuesday and had an attempted sweep on the Thursday but she couldn't sweep as cervix was closed. I was so disappointed as got my hopes up lol. I found it really sore even without the sweep because am very very tender and sore down there as it is (lovely piece of information for u) lol so am not sure what an actual sweep feels like but can imagine it being uncomfortable. I'm having another one this Thursday. But everyone is different u may not find it bad at all, what I will say tho is go in with an open mind so u don't feel too disheartened if nothing happens....then anything that does happen is a bonus for u. They say it's a 50/50% chance of success....but it all really depends on if you're cervix is ready. Sending all the luck to u, all the best x

As well as being so excited to meet my baby. Pregnancy is just not for me I'm struggling to walk now lol (spd) welcoming labour with open arms even tho I'm craping my self at the thought of it lol
