Pregnancy

38 weeks and going crazy, anyone else?

I'm due 23rd April but as soon as I became 37 weeks (full term) I just felt so desperate to meet my baby. After suffering with hyperemesis for the first 4 months and now terrible pelvic and hip pain, I can't say I've hugely enjoyed pregnancy. I feel like I spend my days googling natural induction methods and early labour signs. Does anyone else over analyse every little symptom they have and feel like they are just waiting for something to finally happen....

Ha Oakley, I'm a bit ahead of you (due tomorrow), but know how you feel. Experiencing the hip and pelvic pain every time I try to sleep and desperate now to avoid induction. Just posted asking for natural induction tips - if nothing else, working through the list is going to help pass the time.

Hi, have you had any signs that have made you think baby is coming soon? Have you tried anything so far. I'm waiting to go a bit further on but the usual seem to be walking, hot food, sex, pineapple, acupuncture, reflexology, evening primrose oil, bathing with or rubbing clargy oil on bump. How have you been feeling energy wise for the last couple of weeks. Hope baby comes soon for you,

I've had no signs whatsoever that anything is likely to happen. I am consoling convincing myself that I've had a quiet baby all the way through so maybe its par of the course for me not to get too many signs.

So far I have tried: acupuncture, reflexology, walking, burning clary sage oil.

Energy wise I am good, apart from when I have a real bad night's sleep and then I am a total grump.

Waiting for a manic burst of energy, or a overwhelming desire to nest, as I know they can be signs but nothing really...

I'll join your frustration thread! 38+3 here and I've had signs this LO is ready to arrive for the past two weeks. He's dropped, fully engaged and in the right position, started losing the mucus plug midway through last week, have been waking up with irregular contractions every night (which last about an hour) and then on Tuesday had a full 8hours of mild contractions 10min apart which then stopped... and since then NOTHING! I'm not due for another 11 days so I'm trying really hard to rein in my impatience but my pregnancy has been similar to yours with morning sickness and then PGP/SPD and not sleeping due to hip/pelvic pain. I just want him out!

I know everyone's labour experience is different - a friend of mine whose bubba is now 2-weeks-old had no warning signs whatsoever, her waters just broke at 5am one morning, contractions started that afternoon and her bubba arrived at 6am the next morning - BUT I can't stay away from google, desperate to know he is coming soon. I found the below particularly helpful and reassuring given my experience on Tuesday!

I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels like this. Fx it isn't too much longer for any of you :)

Poor you kjh5, I think having a few signs and then nothing would be even worse. I had one nights of some cramp pains and some mild contractions (probably Braxton hicks) a few nights ago and then nothing, just makes it more frustrating after that glimmer of hope it might be starting. I think my mucus plug starting to go would really have my hopes up.
I agree supercala that everyone else seems to be having their baby, I've known 2 people in the last 2 days.
Raisingirls I'm guessing you wouldn't recommend the acupuncture or reflexology as no baby yet? Any thoughts on what else you might give a try?

Well both the acupuncturist and reflexologist said they wouldn't try to induce until I hit 40 weeks- so back tomorrow! They did stuff to relax and prepare but I was hoping it would push me over into labour. Really hoping tomorrow's sessions feel different and produce results.

Good luck, I'm sure we'd all love to hear how you get on. I'm lucky in the fact I get complimentary reflexology in my area if I go 7 days over but really hoping it doesn't get to that point!

Me too! I'm 38+4 and desperate to have baby, so uncomfortable and not sleeping well, but also don't want to wish away my last few child free days! Having braxton hicks a lot and they have been getting stronger, but no signs of baby's impending arrival... Not tried any natural induction methods yet but may soon!

I had a reflexology session yesterday, she stimulated all the right pressure points to get things going. Can't say it kick-started anything but it was wonderfully relaxing :) Good luck Raisin! Hope you have some success with it tomorrow.

I've been munching pineapple, eating loads of spicy food, going for long walks - the works! I suppose it all helps get you towards the end point! Trying to remind myself not to get too worked up about it, after all we can't stay pregnant forever, one way or another these babies are coming.

Torfhinn going to try and take a leaf out of your book and enjoy the 'me' time!

OakleyCat · 10/04/2014 12:31

Hi Torfhinn, it's so nice to feel like it's not just me! Do you start to wonder if this is it when you get the Braxton Hicks? If baby is going to be late then so be it (wouldn't be happy about it but I accept not much I can do) but the not knowing and wondering what everything means drives me mad. Something looks dirty and I need to clean it, is it nesting or just cleanliness. I was sick the other day and wondering is something happening, more likely was the two chocolate muffins I ate. Wish pregnancy came with a little pager that gave you a countdown!

Every single day I Google the same thing: regular braxton hicks, when will labour start? I get the same answer everyday!!! The braxton hicks aren't fooling me as I've been told I'll 'know' when its real labour, but the thought of another 2-3 weeks of them is a bit depressing! Off to have a long bath now, enjoying the fact that I can take as long as I want Wink

Yep, me too! 37+5 & I'm hoping baby makes an early appearance. My hips are killing at night & I'm feeling constantly tired as I can't seem to get comfy. Plenty of Braxton Hicks and baby squirming away, No other symptoms.

Going for a curry on Sunday, but I am more if a Korma girl than Vindaloo! Started drinking raspberry leaf tea twice a day from last week, got some pineapple in as well Grin

My labour with Dc1 started after having some special time with DP basically crying at him to have sex with me! don't know if I'm quite up for that yet..!

Good luck everyone, hope some babies arrive soon.

MissC, I am exactly the same down to the 2 cups of raspberry leaf tea and the only curry I like is a korma. How far along were you when you had your first baby, do you believe the sex really helped start the labour?

Hiya, it was the evening & I was 40+5, DTD & had cramps all night which I couldn't sleep through but were manageable, plug went sometime in the night, waters at 6am, DS born just before 2pm in the afternoon (@40+6) Grin

I always say he was a day early though as I was put forward a full week at my 12 week scan, this time I've been put back 2 days so this is why I'm really hoping I'll be early!

I wish I'd have a definite date...Smile

Me too! Due 22nd and go to bed every night wondering if tonight will be the night despite knowing for sure I will be late! Have had 2 DC before so you would think I might know the signs, but have been induced both times so don't. I can't remember what it feels like! I had one day a couple of days ago when I was having regular painful contractions, but they stopped and have not had a show or anything.

Me too! I'm 37+4 now and have really sore hips/pelvis/bum and carpel tunnel syndrome, so super uncomfy.

This is my second and my first was due Christmas Day and came New Year's Day - felt like the longest week of my life.

I keep clinging onto the fact that second labours are often earlier and quicker. Wink

Oh god yes I analyse every little symptom and spend my life on google looking at ways to go into labour lol. Although I have absolute loved every second of being pregnant after 8 years of trying it's too amazing to not enjoy BUT when got to 37 weeks was just ready to meet my little man. I am 40+2 weeks now and my cervix is not dialated or effaced which found out today after an attempted sweep. Am fed up as just want him here now but am not booked in for induction until another 10 days it feels like forever. Have come to terms now though that babies will just come out whenever they are ready and if your body isn't ready then I guess no method will work. I feel your pain, we just have to wait lol it will be so worth it tho x

Im only 26 wks and already get emotional daydreaming about what our lil man looks like :) like you i really cant wait but i still have a way to go yet :p if i manage to get the money before im going to book a 4d scan so i can see him. The one thing im looking forward to is being able to sleep on my tummy as ive always slept like that, it took some time getting used to not sleeping in other positions lol

Morning, anyone had anything happen overnight? Any plans to try any induction methods today?
Really feel for all you ladies have already gone past the 40 wk mark, think a due date should be 42 weeks so the vast majority get to feel like they're early and then they induce on that due date. I'm sure very frustration to keep counting down to a date and then possibly have another 2 weeks. Hope i dont have to find out what that's like, come on babies, mummies are ready for cuddles!

Has anyone tried booking any appointments? Something you'll really look forward to - hairdressers, nails etc.
Sod's law says baby will make an appearance then...

Am 37+4 due DC2 on 28th April - not really sure if I want the baby out just yet or not! We have family staying from overseas for next 3 weeks and I can't decide whether I want the baby born while they're here (so they can help out and meet the little one) or after they've gone so I have some time to recover before! They fly back on 27th so will be touch and go!
But on the plus side it's distracting from the discomfort of the last few days. I'm also one of those vaguely surprised each morning when Google doesn't change it's answer and all the forums and advice sites still tell me I have no signs of labour :( I felt really thirsty yesterday so that got googled too! Madness...

Your post made me laugh honeybadger, I must google the same stuff all the time, not sure what I'm expecting to see change. Hope your family is helping you it lots. I don't think baby cares what you'd prefer or when you want them to arrive, they'll do what they want. I've asked my baby very nicely if she'll come out but no luck!

My only news is that braxton hicks started at 7am, stopping me from getting any more sleep, i usually get a bit of respite in the mornings from them. Maybe I'll Google 'more frequent BH, sign of impending labour' Hmm 38+5
