So confused by faint lines, please help.

I am so confused by what is going on. My last period was 40 days ago but it is not unusual for me to have extremely long, irregular cycles. (the last three have been 39,45,39 days). I had sex once only on day cd28 and that was the first time in over a month Blush. I have been with dp nearly 4 yrs and never used contraception in that time as I have really poor fertility, it took me years to conceive my Ds even though I was only in my early twenties.

Ds was like a miracle baby, I'd almost given up hope, had taken clomid for a year with no success and was just about to under go IVF. In the years since having Ds I have never had a hint if pregnancy despite trying Sad

However the weirdest thing has happened, firstly my friend who has been trying as long as me announces she pregnant, I was very happy for her but gutted also as I knew my chances were getting slim especially as my a dp are in the process of spitting up & I was worried I'd never have another baby.

Anyway to the point (sorry Blush) on Thursday evening which is 10 days since I slept with dp and I think 9 dpo I decided to do a cheap HPT. I admit I am serial symptom spotter and poas addict. The faintest of ghost lines showed up in under 10 minutes, I did the other 2 test and the same. I doubt anyone else would be able to see them. I've pretty much obsessively tested since then and this morning a 20miu diptest showed very faint but colored line as did another 25miu test and an answer mid flow. However the 15miu dip tests are really, really faint almost barely there.like an indent. There's mistaking the answer test the line is faint but defo there and came up around the 3 minute mark.

I rushed out to buy some cb digital's but decided to try another 25miu diptest as that's the same sensitivity as the clearblue and I didn't want to waste it. However despite giving me quite a good line this morning the test is completely blank Sad so I didn't do the clearblue.

I don't really know what I'm asking but did anyone else have really faint tests before the period was due? Or different darkness of lines in different tests?

I think my mind is boggled tbh. I just don't understand how I can be pregnant. Dp's sperm test was extremely low 6 months ago and he's don't nothing to improve it, he drinks far to much and is on medication shown to lower sperm count. I can't possibly be pregnant can I? What else could it be?

Sorry it's so long I just needed to get it down,I haven't told anyone, not even dp, thanks.

Didn't want to read and not reply. I think you may very well be pregnant. I had a very faint line when I tested early on with DD2, and it seems you've had loads of faint lines! Stranger things have happened.

Congratulations, if it turns out you are, though sorry to hear your relationship is in trouble. Hope things work out for you.

Smile Thanks

Do you mean those Internet cheapies, the strips? I was a poas addict too and the only times (2 pregnancies) that they were positive are exactly as you described. Before 11dpo they were v v v v faint and took almost 10 lines to appear. From the day AF was due the line appeared in maybe 2 minutes and was darker but still faint.

A week after that and the line was even darker than the control line and appeared instantly.

I would definitely say you're pregnant because I NEVER had any sort of a line ever, not even an 'evap', only when I was pregnant.

Meant to add, tesco and first response are very sensitive, clearblue isn't!

I had exactly the same using Superdrugs own which are very good value and showed a very, very faint positive when I was only 3 weeks pregnant. Boots and Clear Blue tests showed a negative until at least a week later.
My periods are all over the place as well so I understand how difficult it is to know when to test and how pregnant you may be - my dates were out by 2 weeks and me and DH had only had sex twice that month.
I have also been on Clomid and had a failed cycle of IVF so FX for you because it does happen out of the blue like this! I am now just over 27 weeks and only just starting to believe that this is actually happening now :-)

Clearblue tests are crap. I was 8 days late before I got a very faint line with DD1 on a first response and an asda test. Clearblue digital said not pregnant Hmm

Agree that the only time I've ever had any line- faint, indent, ghostly or otherwise- was when I was pregnant. Otherwise there has been no second line.

Congratulations Pirate! It's amazing and slightly overwhelming isn't it, especially when you have been struggling to conceive. Hurrah!! :-)

Congratulations! I've always found the internet cheapies reliable - if there is a line, however faint, you are pregnant!

And on the infertility thing - took DH and me 7 yrs and fertility treatment to have our DTs. We had unprotected sex once after I had had the implant removed while trying to decide whether DH would get the snip and am now 22 weeks pregnant Grin

Thank you so much for all the replies I'm in complete shock. Had a really sleepless night waiting to test and finally got up at 6am (real time 5am yawn) I was so sure it was going to say 'not pregnant' so was in complete shock and burst into tears.

When we'd been trying I'd thought of all these special ways I'd break the news to dp if it happened but instead today I crept back into the bedroom in tears and as he woke up passed him the 'pregnant' stick. Dp said 'thank god for that I though you were crying cos the dog had died' Grin

The dip tests were from home bargains and are still faint but pink today Grin and I had to do a clearblue digital as a matter of course as it was with a mumsnet trial clearblue that I accidentally found out I was pregnant with Ds nearly 6 years ago! I was in complete shock and not believing it then either Blush I still look at that thread sometimes, Mumsnetters are so lovely and supportive Smile

Well this has to be the best mothers day present ever I agree Grin here's to hoping it a sticky one. Strange thing is I have absolutely no symptoms at all except being horrible to dp for the last week and a few mild af type cramps since Friday so I'll actually be glad when I get some symptoms!

Thanks again everyone Smile
