Yup! 8 days today. Had second attempt at sweep yesterday, still not favourable, has now made me feel shocking- feel achy and slightly sick. Booked for induction on Monday which I really don't want but not sure how much longer I can go. Also stupidly looked up some of the risks associated with induction last night which gave me a rubbish nights sleep!!
Have had words with baby girl already this morning and told her how things need to pan our before Monday comes!!!

It's so frustrating. I will be due an induction on Monday too and I'm not feeling that either. Due my second sweep tomorrow as the sweep last Friday didn't work.

Is this your first child? This is my second and I went 4 days over with my first.

I had the hormone drip and epidural with first because my labour slowed down so if they induce with the drip then I don't think it will be that bad.

Yep - only 4 days here but well & truly fed up. Dd was born at 40+2 but I have absolutely no signs that this one is even thinking about coming out.

Had an emcs with dd, really want to have a go at vbac this time but elcs booked for a week tomorrow - hate having a deadline & feel under so much pressure with it all.

Hope we're all holding our babies v v soon.

At least we know they will be here soon. It's just draining when ppl are constantly asking "is baby here yet?" Well obviously not!

Good luck!

Oh my I really feel for you all, I'm 38 weeks today and already feeling frustrated. If I go overdue I'm going to be a nightmare!

Hope something happens for you ladies soon!

This is my first. Was convinced she'd be early do felt overdue by due date.
I think I've decided that if it comes to induction I may accept the pessary but not the drip, and if things don't get moving then go to an elective c section. It's ironic really as it's the absolute opposite of what I had planned (home waterbirth!!!). As much as I desperately want her to come naturally I find an element of comfort knowing that this time next week she should hopefully be here!
I've been very fortunate with my antenatal care so far, so I can only hope it'd be the same if it came to induction.
What are you all doing to keep yourselves occupied? Where are you all based?

Mummy that is EXACTLY the same plan as me. Hope you get your homebirth x

Mummyk1982 · 27/03/2014 09:19

Sadly homebirth went out the window weeks ago due to a concern about post partum haemorrhage (varicose vein related)- so I've got my head round that- obstetrician was happy for birth unit, but that's fading now the closer induction gets!

Stupidly I looked in the mirror last night to check my stretch marks- had 2 up until 10 days ago, have a sea of tgem across the underside of my belly now!!! Ho hum!!!

Me too, 8 days over and utterly miserable! Booked for induction on Monday but really want to avoid it if I can, saw midwife yesterday who did a sweep and said she can't believe I'm not in labour yet! Nor can I Hmm
DC1 was 4 days early and was really expecting the same with this one, cannot believe it's taking so long.
So far have had 3 sweeps, acupuncture, sex, pineapple, curry, long walks and spent hours bouncing on my ball. Nothing!

Mummyk1982 · 27/03/2014 10:28

Caledonian! I thought you'd gone in to labour as you'd gone quiet!!! At least your midwife managed a sweep-mine said she literally got one finger in my cervix and managed to tickle it!!!!! So not exactly a sweep! Been feeling crap since though! Feel sick and achey :-(

Have spent some time reading up on induction this morning- wish I hadn't. Not sure I want it now. Don't know what to do- cos once you start induction you can't stop. What I'd like to do is try pessary and if that doesn't work then say fine, leave her to come of her own accord, but it seems you can't do that. I'm fairly sure I want to refuse the synto drip though- just hope I'm strong enough to refuse it at the time!!

I'm 5 days over and also don't want to be induced, luckily I have some time as I'm not being induced until a week Saturday. So far I've tried hot curry, DTD and fresh pineapple. Next on the list is a walk and twiddling with my nipples!!

Had some lower backache but it feels like I've lift something heavy, so not sure if it's in relation to DTD rather then labour!

Good luck ladies I hope it happens for us all soon:) x

Well I've just had a rather warm bath with some clary sage in it (bump seemed to like it), then put a couple of drops of clary sage in bio oil and rubbed that on her, and now have lavender burning in oil burner. All it's achieved so far is a slightly more relaxed mummy to be- which is actually quite nice, let's hope it lasts for a bit!!

Hey. I'm 5 days over. He has a week to make an appearance otherwise I'm booked for a c section on 3rd, which I really don't want!

Looks like these babies are too comfortable and don't want to come out Smile

I used clary sage in the bath last night and had a lot of tightenings but they didnt develop, at 38 weeks I dont think im ready. However, I also slept better than in ages so am going for it again tonight!

Totesamazeballs · 27/03/2014 17:53

Hi all, I am 38 weeks but went 4 days over with my first. Labour started naturally but I ended up on the induction drip due to lack of progression - so just to say it's not that bad. I had an epidural because they recommended it so I could get some rest and I still could feel when I was ready to push. I don't know what it would be like without an epidural but with one it was fine so don't panic if you end up on the drip and good luck!

caledonianclown · 27/03/2014 17:56

Oooh, not tried clary sage oil, I'll pop to the shops tomorrow for some of that! I've had a few twinges this afternoon but nothing I'd definitely describe as a contraction. Midwife said at sweep yesterday that I'm 2cm dilated and she could stretch me to 4cm but STILL nothing happening!

Report
East1985 · 27/03/2014 19:55

Never heard of clary sage before. I'm from south london so not sure if that is something I can get here??

I'm trying to relax now I know it's all going to be over soon. I am sure baby will not arrive if feeling stressed.

You might be able to get it in holland and Barrett. It's a little controversial as it can bring on quite strong 'false' contractions in some people. I've found that it just relaxes me. A lot of people use it in labour for natural pain relief.
I guess I'm using it for relaxation and the off chance that it might stimulate a few contractions which kick start labour, though I'm not sure It will. I'm being careful with the amount I use- don't want to cause baby any distress with unproductive contractions! Some people swear by it, others say it's dangerous, and others say it does nothing for them.

Yeah you can buy in holland and barratt, thats where I got mine yesterday

Thanks ladies. I think at this point I would give anything a try.

Although I wouldn't risk the castor oil, the horror stories are not pleasant.

Found out last night that one of the ladies from my pregnancy yoga class had her baby, she's not even due till tomorrow Envy
And while I'm happy for her, I also had massive sobbing meltdown about how unfair it is that she's holding her snuggly newborn and I'm still waddling round like a hippo

Report
East1985 · 28/03/2014 11:08

I know your pain. I've heard of a baby born two weeks early yesterday. I've had my sweep and now 1cm dilated and I've got my clary sage oil for later.

Fingers crossed it works!
