Hi All

I have just joined this forum because I desperately need some advice if possible.

Im 26, married, and stopped taking the contraceptive pill around Christmas time. We aren't using contraception but have been using withdrawal method. I know I sound like a silly teenager but I thought as long as we carry out the withdrawal method properly we would be ok.

In the last 2 weeks I don't feel right at all. These are my symptoms

  • Forgetfullness. Actually think I'm going a little crazy

  • Strong sense of smell

  • strange dreams

  • Nausea

  • I've gone off alcohol ( really not like me)

  • And I've just burst into tears for no reason

  • I just don't feel like myself

If I am pregnant that's fine. I'm in a lovely marriage and have a reliable job and can support a child. My husband works away a lot so I just wanted to confide in someone. I did a test (negative) but I'm 8 days away from my period so I know this is too early to do a test and get an accurate result.

What should I do? Wait it out and test again next week?

Any advice would be wonderful.

Many thanks

Daisy

You know the answers really don't you?

Yes, you could be pregnant. Withdrawal has a high failure rate.

Yes, 8 days pre-period is too early to test. You need to wait a week at least and test again.

Hope you get a good result. Smile

You are right on two counts
1- those could be symptoms of early pregnancy
2- it is too early to test to be completely certain

I'd wait for 8 more days then test with certainty.

If you're 8 days before your period and you've been experiencing these symptoms for two weeks, then your symptoms started before you would even have ovulated (let alone conceived, if you have). So you might be, but not all of those symptoms could relate to pregnancy.

Why are you using the withdrawal method? Do you secretly want to have a baby but neither of you confident to broach the matter?
