Pregnancy

Spd making my life hell

I have 16+4 with my second dc. I had SPD with my ds which wasn't treated until 38 weeks and was relatively mild. Had a horrendous delivery with ds which led to forceps effectively dislocating my pelvis. Been having weekly physio since he was born in feb 2013.

I am pregnant again and already at 16 weeks SPD is making my life a misery. I am in constant pain and really struggling. I have weekly physio which eases it for a couple of hours and then I'm back to being in agony. I am also still suffering from bad nausea preventing me from eating some days.

I am so happy to be pregnant again but this is agony. I have a body tubi grip which I wear but not all the time because it can be uncomfortable and sometimes my body just needs to breath!!

Just wanted to say all this in place where people might understand what I'm going through. My dh is amazing and does so much, but he's in the army and has recently been away for 2 weeks and I have another 3 week stint on my own coming up with my 14 month old ds.

Thanks for reading if you've got this far! I'm so nervous about where this SPD will take me... Thinking wheelchair and all sorts!! Fed up!!!!

I feel your pain bluehearted Sad

I'm 33 weeks with DS2 and well and truly fed up! My SPD started at 8 weeks, physio gave me some crutches and basically said there's nothing else I can do and I'll probably need a wheelchair by the end. The agony at night is getting to me the most, can't remember the last time I slept more than 2 hours on the trot and even though I've been told to take codeine I can't bring myself to do it in case it affects baby.

I had to finish work at 17 weeks, never thought I'd miss it as much as I do! Going stir crazy staring at the same 4 walls every day. Like you I'm really lucky, DP is fantastic, he works long hours but still does so much around the house. Don't know what I'd do without him!

I love being pregnant so much and hate how SPD is ruining it for me. Having an ELCS this time so hoping I can persuade my consultant to do it at 38 weeks!

Suppose the only thing we can do is think of how worth it in the end it will all be, that's what I'm telling myself every day anyway Smile

Go and see a chiropractor, mine specializes in problems like this and has really helped me.

I have had severe spd from twenty weeks and have been signed off since work since jan with pneumonia, then since about 29 weeks as work wouldnt make adaptations. Using crutches on bad days. However, the consultant i see referred me for accupuncture and it has made a huge difference to my spd. I am pain free ish for a couple of days after then minimal for a couple more days. Dont take codeine or use crutches those days. Its a free service my hospital runs and i cant reccommend it enough! I was such a sceptic before but its been amazing. I go weekly. Good luck and hope you get some relief soon.

Thinking of you op. I'm 24 weeks pregnant with my 2nd baby and iv had SPD from very early on too. Never got anything like this with my 1st. It's really hard work running around after a toddler most days. Iv given up work already because I couldn't cope doing it while my SPD is so bad. I'm normal a very active person as is my DD and it's so hard not being able to play with her as much as I want. I get no help until my husband is here at the weekends. I'm wishing my pregnancy away which is so sad because I loved it with my DD.

It's comforting to know I'm not alone but I feel for you all I really do.

I have crutches but can't see how I can actually use them with a one year old to chase after. It's so depressing! My spine feels like it's going to snap any second!

I'll ask about the acupuncture because that sounds really good. I'm so glad you have that service!!

I'm having a ELCS as well but not until 39 weeks and as I'm only 16+5 I have a long way to go. I am seeing the midwife today, so will ask what else they can offer to help me!

So fed up! But so glad there is somewhere I can rant! I mention it to friends and they say, "oh yeah I had bit of hip pain when I was pregnant"... Makes you want to laugh!
