Pre C-Section counselling - anyone had it

As title really? I've got to see the counsellor on Tuesday and just wondered what to expect?

I didn't want to read and run but I'm not sure I'm afraid. Are you having an elective section? I was offered counselling as I'm having an ELCS but I refused it. Sorry, don't think that helps much!

I'm having an ELCS in a couple of weeks and wasn't offered any counselling. I think I might have taken it as I am quite nervous about it, but everyone here has been so reassuring and that has helped quite a bit. I'm sure it will be a helpful thing for you and it's probably just to discuss to any fears you might have so you can relax a bit.

No, it wasn't mentioned at all. I just had the pre-op checks and a general chat about what to expect while filling in paperwork.

BTW my ELCS was awesome, although I wa terrified of the epidural and all that. Recovered a lot quicker than any of my friends who had VB so sure you'll be fine :)

Thanks for the replies! I haven't requested the counselling and it seems more like a butt-covering exercise than anything else. I'm 100% sure its what i want so hopefully its just a formality.

If you think it might be an exercise in trying to put you off the notion then go in armed with the NICE guidelines. My hospital has been terrible at giving me a balanced view on the subject so I made sure I did a lot of research myself. I feel it is 100% the right choice for me too but some of them still aren't convinced despite the fact that I have my section booked and it's in just over 2 weeks lol. I understand the need to tell me about the risks but their negativity has really worn thin and so far I have seen only one consultant (last week) who didn't make me feel like I wasn't insane to be considering it (he was lovely and he smiled and everything! Wish I'd had him from the start).

I had this experience- midwives great, consultants crap- scaremongering at every opportunity.
