Anyone progressed swiftly after an unsuccessful sweep attempt?

Went for a sweep this morning but midwife couldn't do it as cervix very high and posterior. She eventually managed to reach the cervix but because it was closed and of medium texture she could only agitate the cervix- which in itself was rather uncomfy.
She said not to be too disheartened, and said things could change at anytime. Booked for another sweep next Wednesday.
Just wondered if others have had unsuccessful attempts at sweeps and how soon after they went in to labour? Really don't want to be induced but almost feels inevitable having been told of such little cervical progress today.

It isn't inevitable at all. I had this with DD2. Tuesday afternoon cervix very high and posterior. Wednesday morning niggles started, baby born overnight on Wednesday/Thursday.

With my last pregnancy (dc4), I asked my mw for a sweep at 40+12, but she couldn't as my cervix was closed and high.
I ended up having a show at 11am the next day and delivered at 7pm after a 2hr labour.
I was refusing induction and had agreed to go for monitoring the morning after. Other dcs were born at 40+12, 40+8, 40+8.

That's great to hear! Oddly enough I've had some terrible cramps this afternoon; not sure it's anything major but it's definitely the most I've had so far. Keeping everything crossed!! :-)
