Early 2nd tri and serious back pain

When I was pregnant with ds 3 years ago my lower back got progressively sorer as the bump got bigger. I didn't need pain killers it was more a dull ache.
Now 16 weeks pregnant and over the past week my lower back and down into my buttocks has been getting worse. I don't know what I did yesterday but it got so bad that I couldn't walk properly or bend over. I took some paracetamol and went to bed (after crawling/dragging myself up the stairs). This morning its even worse, dh has just had to help me get to the loo.
I have never had such serious pain (outside labour). Dh is taking the day of work to take me to gp.
Anyone else unfortunate enough to have this and can recommend a magic cure?

I've had agonising lower back pain later diagnosed as spd- go to doctors they gave me stretches and signed off work. After 2 weeks no better went back got physio appointment which has started to help, it may not be the same but go to doctors anyway!

Will hopefully get an appointment this morning. Paracetamol isn't really helping, was there any other painkillers they could perscribe?
