I believe spotting without pain can be quite common and not cause for concern. If you start having period like pains and the spotting gets worse and clotty then it may be start of miscarriage. If I was you I would hope for the best but prepare for the worst. After all- so many pregnancies end in miscarriages. I had 2 healthy pregnancy. One miscarriage at 12 weeks anf now 28 weeks with my 3rd.

Hope all is well with you and baby.

I've had spotting since about week 8, with cramps (which is supposed to be a bad combination), but baby was all fine at the 3 scans I've had. My doctor said if it's brown/dark spotting, it's nothing to worry about. I had some leftover bleeding from implantation which was 'working its way out', and is apparently not too uncommon. I had an early scan so they saw it at about 7 weeks. Still having the odd day where there'll be tiny bit of spotting (am almost 12 weeks), but doctor is very unconcerned. At my last hysterical scan after finding spotting, the doctor said I had placenta previa, where the placenta covers the cervix. It's not a problem this early as is most likely going to move its way around, but it's one reason for my spotting.

I've been told no sex, or sexual activity (poor boyfriend), no heavy lifting, avoid walking too much, but that's it. It's VERY scary, but yes, unless you get worse or have pain, it's more normal than I knew!

Obviously if you need reassurance, try going back to your EPU if they do self-referral, even if it just eases your mind for a bit.

I've had the odd bit of pink/brown spotting on and off since wk4, am now almost 7wk. Had EPU scan last week but too early to see HB but nurse said all looked as it should. Going back next week.

My GP said that any spotting is not strictly speaking 'normal' and so should be investigated (which you are) but it is very very very common, especially in early preganncy.

If you're docs aren't worried, try not to be yourself.

I had heavy spotting around week 26 with first baby - was in and out of hospital but baby was fine and they coulnd't find cause of bleeding. Said it was probably cervical erosion.
