I have a stinking cold- shivering through layers and blankets, headache, joints aching...

Can I only have paracetamol? Does anyone have any miracle cures? Home remedies? I'm 8wks pg and all the gunk at the back of my throat is not helping my nausea!

Paracetamol, lemon and honey in hot water is really nice. Like a lemsip.

Thanks mmolly, dp has just made me some and it's lovely.

I just coughed and nearly vomited across the room as a result! Boo to being poorly while pregnant!

Poor Robindeer!! No you really can't take anything- sorry. I had a cold when I was pregnant and was told off by the pharmacist for even asking for something more!!-Even just a little decongestant! Get well soon x

Saline nasal spray if congested.

Honey & Lemon throat pastilles from Lloyds Pharmacy if you have a sore throat.

Liquid paracetamol may be easier to swallow if you have a sore throat.

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate the advice. I just woke up on the sofa with a banging headache! Think I might be giving work a miss tomorrow! I'm sending dp out to boots (and a food shop to stock up on lemons!)

I feel your pain - had a cold which is now laryngitis. Doc advised paracetamol, lots of fluids, steam inhalation, rest. Hope you're feeling better soon!

You can take Co codamol until the third trimester.

I resorted to holding my head above a bowl with boiling water and Vicks. Helped with the bunged up feeling. X x

How are you feeling now, OP?

You can have buttercup syrup which helps slightly. It's nice mixed with hot water, honey and a touch of black currant juice if you have a sore throat.

Vicks is lovely when rubbed in to your chest and feet on a night, really helps with coughing and that tight feeling.

Other than that it's just rest and plenty of fluids you need. Sounds daft but do try to blow your nose instead of just sniffing it all back.

Hope you feel better soon.

I've never heard of buttercup syrup but it sounds lovely! I know I have Vicks in the house somewhere so will try to find that. Off work today so going to try and shake it off. I don't like having to take days off (work don't know I'm pregnant) especially when I know I'll be having lots of appointments etc.

Might go and run a bath, hopefully the steam will help. Thanks for all the advice and well wishes, much appreciated!
