Pregnancy

The worst thing about pregnancy....

We're are having a nice jokey giggle on another thread about the 'joys' of pregnancy, but in reality, if you had to pick just one part of pregnancy that was undoubtedly the worst in your eyes, what would it be??

With me it is the back ache.

The unrelenting, unresolving, agonising backache, all day, every day and throughout the night too.

It has made the last 20 weeks of my pregnancy nearly unbearable. I'm in pain whatever position I'm in, I can't lie down or sit down in the same place for more than 5 minutes before the shooting pains and pressure become too much and I need to re-shift!! Painkillers make no difference, hot baths and hot water bottles make no difference and it has just been horrendous. I've spent many a night in tears purely just out of frustration because nothing makes it go away Sad

It's definitely the one thing that puts me off getting pregnant again.

I just got diagnosed with an under active thyroid so really hoping the medications sorts out my sleeping!

Nausea and vomiting. 9 months with DS 1. 7 months and counting with DS 2.

Relentless and tricky to deal with on the comute and at work. Oh and not really understood/recognised here. A Dr told me that sickness stops in the first trimester and looked very doutbful when I told him it didnt for me. Why would i lie about that?!

the morning sickness .it is only now starting to go away at 27 weeks and being replaced by back pain.

For me it's SPD, started at 8 weeks and been signed off work since I was 17 weeks. I'm now nearly 32 weeks, hoping my consultant can be persuaded to let me have my ELCS at 38 instead of 39! I love being pregnant but the constant pain, having to use crutches to go anywhere and never sleeping for more than 2 hours in a row is starting to get me down :-( but every time my little wriggler boots me in the ribs it reminds me that it's a good job it's all worth it in the end!

For me it was piles. They just appeared out of nowhere at 36 weeks and I had a week of utter hell.

Dd was born at 37 weeks, via emcs which I know thank the heavens I didn't have to push!

She's 6 months now and they've not quite gone yet.

The constantly needing to pee.!!! I can't go anywhere unless there's a loo within 100 yards. With me it never builds gradually, it's always if I don't pee now, I'll wet myself. I'm only 9 weeks, so maybe I'll find worse things in the future.

It was heartburn for me-I did t need lipstick when I was pregnant as I had a lovely white ring round my mouth from swigging the Mallox straight from the bottle!

The worry for me too. I will take anything this pregnancy throws at me as cheerfully as possible if I get a healthy baby in my arms at the end.

The physical stuff is hard and I can't wait for that to be over but for me the worst bit is the anxiety. I'm still so worried about losing the baby. I thought by dc3 I'd be calmer but I've worried more this time than either of my other pregnancies. Hoping for another straight forward labour and so glad its nearly time.

non stop heart burn combined with morning sickness. I really find it shocking people manage to gain weight while pregnant! Shock

I've lost loads in all my pregnancies I just could not eat

The unrelenting nausea and sickness.
Feel ok for about half an hour when I wake up then it just gets worse and worse.
The only thing that helps is eating but as soon as I stop, bam it's back.
Being sick every day is getting tiring now.
God knows how people with hg cope.

I would say SPD (am more or less housebound now)but actually I went somewhere that really brought back memories of morning sickness the other day, and I think I would actually choose the current pain and breathlessness and general late pregnancy awfulness over the morning sickness. Tough call though!

its gotta be the migraines and morning sickness cant eat anything when i do i get sick and everyday im in bed with a migraine i dont feel pregnant just like im very ill. Even with the bump Sad

I was lucky in that it went at 16 weeks, but the nausea was unrelenting and horrendous. Has definitely put me off doing this again. I remember at about 10wks just wanting to die Sad I felt so awful.

Now, the SPD, heartburn, inability to eat chocolate Angry, tiredness and general discomfort isn't great. But nausea was the worst.

All of it. Every bit. HG, then SPD, indigestion, depression, constantly needing a wee.

Can you tell I hated it Grin

I am still cross about the mammoth size of my boobs and how fat I am. I am seemingly unable to control my eating when pregnant, I am hugely hungry ALL THE TIME.

Report
cookielove · 13/03/2014 16:49

For me it is the worry to, i have been luckily that i haven't been sick, and just reached the great milestone of a happy healthy baby at the 12 week scan!

But the worry that something still may go wrong (previous miscarriage to chromosomal abnormality)

Although i do feel more relaxed!

Report
dobedobedo · 13/03/2014 16:52

I've got spd and need crutches to get around. But this is NOTHING compared to the unrelenting nausea, vomiting and total, total exhaustion I had in the first 14 weeks. I didn't enjoy ANYTHING during that time, it was sheer hell. I have no idea how I got through it.

The constant pain from spd is shit too, but I'd take this over the first trimester symptoms any day.
