Pregnancy

Isn't it funny how your perspectives change during pregnancy.....

You start off desperate for some morning sickness because that means you REALLY are pregnant......and then after a few days of it you'd gladly sell your soul make it stop!! Grin

You start of by being aware of weight gain and being adamant you'll watch what you eat......but by the end you're stuffing your mouth with anything and everything because you're just so bloody hungry all the time!!! Grin

You tell yourself there's no way you will ever give up your attractive bras, perish the thought, but come the end you can't even bear to wear any kind of bra let alone ones with wiring in them! Grin

In the early days you squeeze yourself into your pre-pregnancy, size 10 clothes to convince yourself you aren't getting any bigger, but a few months later you love nothing more than your size 18 grandma pants!! Grin

At the start of the pregnancy you think you won't mind if people make reference to your size/bump because you are so proud and excited to be pregnant and growing a new life........but 6 months down the line you want to kill anyone who dares pass any kind of comment!! Grin

You tell yourself you won't mind if people start making daily phone calls and sending daily texts asking if the baby is here yet because you know they'll only be doing it because they're excited........but when it actually happens you want to tell everyone to f*ck off and stop asking such stupid questions!! Grin

You think you love being pregnant and that you never want it to stop being just you and your baby, having that special bond of feeling him kicking away inside you etc......but come 36 weeks you just want to scream GET THIS BABY OUT OF ME!!!!! Grin Grin

Hahaha very perceptive :D I'm still in the early stages but I'm sure I'll be exactly as you describe in 6 months time!

Ha ha!

Also in my case, from first pregnancy to later ones:

First pregnancy, being pregnant is something you think about and focus all the time. From about 34 weeks you are wondering when the baby will come because 'it might be early'. Third time round you startle yourself regularly by bending over from the waist and winding yourself, trying to sit up in bed and getting stuck or being unable to get up off the floor because you've genuinely forgotten you were pregnant.

PenguinsEatSpinach · 13/03/2014 12:13

Also, first pregnancy you happily go around telling people your due date because you are so proud and excited. Third time it is practically a state secret because you know you will get so fed up with people questioning you near the time.

I spend the first twelve weeks wanting to tell everyone and the remaining 28 weeks being pissed off at the fact that people only want to ask about the baby/pregnancy

Totally planning on adding at least a week onto my EDD! just to save the stress at the end.

I'm afraid since I'm mid-third pregnancy all the ones I can think of are the difference between first and any subsequent, which I realise is a bit off topic.

But first time, you are so focused on the birth and planning the arrangements, hospital bag, etc. Second and third time you half forget you have to do this bit as you are so panicked at the thought of looking after an extra child!

And one I was chatting about today: first time round you get lots of special treats. Your DH carries the shopping at the supermarket. You (if you have any sense) spend the last couple of weeks lying around, reading magazines and taking leisurely trips to the cinema. Second time you are carrying a screaming, thumping toddler over one shoulder with a bag of shopping in the other when five days overdue. I think it's a bit like being a teenager and hating your appearance, and then looking back at old photos and thinking how amazing you looked. You don't appreciate it at the time and by the time you do it's too late!

Yes, by no3 you decide against waddling to school and nick the kids scooter as it gets you there faster and it's less painful :).

You start off desperate to reach the stage where you can feel baby kick and by the latter stages when your bladder is being kicked what feels like 24/7 and you can't sleep, you just want them to sleep for a while to give you a break. And I can attest to it being twice as bad with two breech babies kicking your bladder all the time!!!

Haha! This is great! I used to love people asking me how I am, and telling me I look great/blooming etc. Now its happening everyday, and although I know everyone is just trying to be nice, Im getting increasingly irritated. It struck me when a manager at work went a whole meeting without mentioning my pregnancy once, and I realised what a breath of fresh air it was!!!

lol Jammie - I'm always BEGGING my baby to just go to sleep!!!!! Grin

Yesterday I went to ASDA in my flip flops because my feet are just too fat for my shoes now!! I looked absolutely ridiculous with my chubby rhinocerous feet on show but I'm at the point now where NOTHING matters except being comfortable and trying to make life as easy as possible!!!

Having lots of giggles at imagining cath being pregnant and whizzing around on a scooter Grin

I'm only 7 weeks but I definitely identify with the food thing. I was convinced that during pregnancy I would be eating the healthiest diet imaginable. But now I'm pregnant virtually all fruit and vegetables make me feel sick. I'm practically force feeding myself to get it in me. And my consumption of biscuits and cake has gone massively up, not down.

Bit worried my blueberry sized embryo will grow into a 7lb Victoria sponge

I used to love everyone looking at my bump and realising I'm pregnant but now when people stare at my bump, I get quite annoyed and wish I could say, "yes, I'm effing pregnant!"

I hate it when someone says you're not looking that big, or oh you're bump is really small isn't it? Also want to tell them where to go!!

Ahhhhhh, rant over....preggo rage is definitely starting to kick in haha :)

I'd rather have my MS back... I'm in that limbo (fewer symptoms, no bump, early 2nd trimester) and it's scary because I almost don't 'feel' as pregnant as I did at the start. Odd?

i'd also like to add 1:

''You tell yourself you will NOT be one of those First Time Moms who becomes obsessed with the latest and greatest 'travel system' and you PROMISE you will not be a buggy/pram snob...''

Next thing you know you've put down a deposit on a 1k Joolz travel system with all the extras Grin

Grin

In my defence, although I'm a First Time mom my pram/pushchair gadget was bought 2nd hand off eBay Grin Grin

I was adamant I wouldn't be the type of woman to obsessively talk about her pregnancy via Facebook Statuses...... Hmm I've not done too well at sticking to that..... Grin

Another one - I was convinced that if I ever have a girl (after having boy after boy) I'd just reuse the boys' clothes.

did I? ummm, she has over a hundred dresses (given that is a range of ages newborn to 4 years and loads were freebies) and most of her other clothes are pink, purple with patterns of butterflies, hearts and cupcakes!

after 5 boys the Pink had landed!Grin Grin Grin

I've always said that zing, and I probably would have gone and bought a load of pink stuff anyway Grin. I'm not too bad with clothes but I can't resist a lovely baby toy. DS4 has had loads bought for him, even though we've got enough toys from the others to start our own nursery Blush.

Definitely less organised with each one. With DS1 I had everything organised really early just in case. With DS4 I was hastily shoving knickers and pads in a bag while leaking amniotic fluid.

squizita, I'm sending you a virtual shake of the shoulders. ENJOY IT! I'm 36 weeks now and miss being able to breathe, walk without back ache, not have massively swollen feet/ankles/hands/face. You will feel VERY pregnant soon enough.

With DS5 my hospital stuff was ready, but I didn't think of organising things for kids!
I was getting their pj's and next day school clothes ready between contractions, then DH flew in on moped and begging to let him have a shower.
umm, yeah, "sure sweetie, I'll just put these boxes in the car (pain, pant) while you are getting clean"Confused

then we got to PILs house to drop off stuff and kiss the boys - further delay while I had to wait for DS1 to finish his poo.Grin

marvellous.
it was like a comedy!
