How accurate of private gender scans?

So I was lucky enough to be bought a private scan by my friends (they were sick of me banging on about the nub theory i think :) )
I was supposed to go last weekend but sadly had to postpone until this weekend, the postponement was for reasons out of my control so, naturally I sulked all day saturday!

I will be 17 weeks + 1 when I go - in a way i guess its better that we waited another week as the baby will be that tiny bit bigger.

I was just wondering how accurate these things really are? Obviously the all singing all dancing website claims to be over 99% accurate but they would say this?!
I'm so looking forward to finding out but will be devastated if they say one thing and the 20 week scan says another! (not that i have a preference but for the simple reason that we need to start buying things)
I have convinced myself its a boy so I will be completely shocked if its a girl!!

Has anyone had one of these and has any feedback?

Thanks :) x

I had one but after my 20 week scan as they couldn't tell me at that one. Obviously they really took their time as this is the only thing they are looking at as your 20 week scan is to check on abnormalities.

I had no doubt that it was going to be accurate.

@whyyougottabe - going by our nub theory, it looks like a girl even my OH thinks more girl than boy (and he is all about facts and science not just my crazy guessing games!)
Being literally the most impatient person in the world is not helpful when your pregnant.... i learnt this pretty quickly!

I had one with dd at 16 weeks & she is, indeed, a girl.

Had one at 18 weeks with this pg - he's not here yet (38 weeks pg) but 20 week scan & a growth scan at 36 weeks have both confirmed boy so I feel pretty confident that's what we're getting!

We had a private scan with 'Babybond' and they spent ages looking and telling us exactly what they were looking for. In our case it was pretty obvious we were having a boy Wink but just to show us for sure how they knew they zoomed right in there and seriously even to an untrained eye you couldn't miss it!!! That was when I was 17 weeks. The 20 week nhs scan didn't seem as clear but she did say a boy too. Sure enough our son was born last May

We had a private scan at 16+6 and they said our twins were both girls. Out popped two girls :)

Im just going to keep my fingers crossed that they get our result correct too :)

I found my private scans were far clearer than nhs equipment. Plus they really take their time and look several times. You need to look for a "hamburger" for a girl!! My nhs scan said girl too but she's still cooking so I don't know for definite.
I also was absolutely convinced it was a boy!

I had one at 15+6 with my first pregnancy and they were right about her being a girl.

Had one at 17 exactly with my 2nd baby and they were right with girl again Smile

Lovely experience too!

There was no mention of the nub, the lady the scanned me wasn't the friendliest person, (she very briefly mentioned I had a cyst and then made us wait outside whilst she wrote the notes but didn't really say much else about anything) we had a bit of a moment with the ticket machine for the scan pics and because of this our time slot was given to another couple as they wouldn't wait literally 2 mins for my OH to come back with change. By the time I got in there, I was feeling v stressed! Hoping future scans aren't as stressful, saying that though seeing our little baby was the best thing I've ever seen and I wanted to do it all over again straight away!

I had one a few weeks before my "official" scan, and both told me I am having a boy. My mum refused to believe it until I had my 20 week scan, saying it could just be "a girl with swollen flaps". She is lovely lol xxx

I think all scans are pretty accurate now as the equipment has got a lot more sensitive. I have 3 boys and has 11 week and 20 week scans with all on the NHS plus 11 week privates ones and 3d scans later on. All quite clearly showed they were boys.

At the 11 week scans the NHS staff could quite clearly see they were boys, but said they wouldnt put it in writing as it is NHS policy from days when machines weren't as accurate not to officially say until the 20 week scan.

Each time I said sure no problem we don't care, just nosey, what do you think?

The responses were:

2004 London Teaching Hospital : that's a willy in my opinion
2007 Local Hospital : that's a willy if ever I saw one
2010 Local Hospital : that's a willy without a doubt (even we could see it at 11 weeks that time)

I had one at 16+2 with dd and was correctly told she was a girl. This was confirmed by my 20 week scan and I guessed right using the nub theory on my 12 week scan pics Grin

I've had 2 with Babybond at both times I got to go back for a 2nd scan Smile, the 1st one was a boy but she was only 90% so I was scanned 2 weeks later to double check. 2nd time it was a girl but as I was only 16 weeks I was told to come back again to make sure no boy parts had grown. All 2nd scans were free and it means I've got loads of scan pic's.

My hospital doesn't tell the gender.
