Pregnancy

Sudden loss of symptoms at 9 weeks

I have been feeling loads of early pregnancy symptoms every day since just after 5weeks, with nausea, off lots of foods, really sensitive breasts, tiredness. Also had intermittent headaches. The tiredness has varied a bit, but the sore boobs and nausea has been a constant, until a few days ago, and now my breasts feel almost normal and my nausea has nearly gone. I am really worrying now. I know some people don't have any symptoms in pregnancy, and that doesn't mean anything is wrong, but can it be normal to suddenly loose them at 9 weeks (I'm 9 + 4) when they have consistently been strong?

I had thoughts like this with all 3. It seems to ease at times.

Im guessing this is your first PG?

Go and get checked out. They are always very good with all of your PG worries. They are used to PG mothers needing reassurance all through PG and it is sensible to check everything is ok rather than sitting worrying. You will hear those words alot from them "don't sit and worry, come and see us".

So make an appointment now. Get checked, then you can relax again.

Hi missing. I agree with PP.

When PG with my first I sometimes had a day or a string of a few days where my symptoms would ease & it always made me wonder too as in those early days you have nothing else to confirm that things are ok.

Def get checked out by a midwife or at the hospital (not a&e). It will help you relax.

I'm sure everything is fine. ??

Thanks. Yes it is my first. I haven't seen a midwife yet or got an appointment - my GP just asked where I wanted to go at 6 weeks when I saw her, and I haven't heard anything since.

Totally normal - give it a few days and they will be back!

I remember this exact same thing at 9 weeks. I was in Spain on holiday and was even getting to the point where I thought 'I don't want to be told I've lost the baby in some foreign hospital' etc. The symptoms literally just disappeared one day. They came back with a vengeance the next day though (after I'd eaten some seafood Hmm).

It's easier said than done but please try not to worry :)

So I just saw the GP and explained all of this, and I also mentioned that my last period was very light (and only 2 days ish, usually more like 4) so maybe I have my dates wrong. He then felt my tummy and could feel my uterus and said he wouldn't expect to feel uterus until around 14 weeks, and so got a little sonic aid device and found the babys heartbeat and again, said normally he would not be able to detect a heartbeat at 9 weeks with this device, and so I am probably more like 13+ weeks! If this is the case, tomorrow is the deadline for the nuchal fold scan, but he is not very hopeful he will be able to get me a scan tomorrow. OMG! Bit of a shock, but a nice shock I think! 4 fewer weeks of worry!

Yes missingcaffeine like you, I had had very, very strong symptoms and totally freaked out when they disappeared for a week here and there, first at week 6 then later on. Symptoms come and go. I went from being very sick in bed for 3 days to suddenly able to eat and enjoy the smell of coffee again. Thought it was the end of morning sickness... well sadly it wasn't lol!
I have had two scans and baba is doing well. Please try not to worry xx

Hi missingcaffeine, glad to hear you got good news :) I'm 9+2 and my symptoms have been slowly decreasing. I've had no bleeding or pain though. Just wish my scan would hurry up and be here so I could know it was all ok. Or if my symptoms would come back so then I would worry less! They were never strong anyway so I'm hoping that I've just been lucky.

I'm now also thinking that it might be twins (both my fathers parents were twins) and that's why my uterus is palpable. I'm having a scan later today (private), so will find out then.

honeybear remember everyone is different and I think the hormones are supposed to peak around 9 weeks (but bear in mind that until you have your scan, your dates might be out as well so you might be further along than you think). I spent most of yesterday morning searching about loss of symptoms, and lots of people said they felt their worst weeks 7-8, and by 9 weeks things were easing and their scans were all okay. Lots of people also reported fluctuating symptoms, some days bad, some days good until much later, and some had symptoms right through. We are all so different!

It is totally common. Quick search of past threads confirms this, as I did it when mine disappeared at 9 weeks! Apparently it is when the placenta kicks in more, so your body is doing less. They returned for me with a vengeance and now come and go day by day. Relax and enjoy the respite!
