Magic cure for insomnia

Please tell me your magic cures for insomnia.
I'm currently 15+5 pg with DC1 - haven't been sleeping properly since I found out i was pg. I can get to sleep no problem, but tend to wake about 3am and then toss and turn for an hour or so, sometimes more than once a night.
I've tried a bath, relaxing music on iPod...am on a waiting list for pregnancy yoga...but nothing is currently making any difference.
People keep telling me i should sleep now before DC arrives - yes, very helpful thank you except I CAN'T SLEEP! Sorry, rant over.
Help!

Yeah I have similar - I wake very easily hot/cold. I'm only 11 weeks - think it must be the hormones!

I've always been a light sleeper though - waking at least once a night.

The pregnancy yoga will REALLY help- i go every Tuesday night and it's the only decent nights sleep i get over the course of the week.
I've also started listening to Gentle Birth tracks and these are helping..
They certainly help me to GET to sleep, may not help me STAY asleep however.
It's a complete pain in the ass- bloody prego hormones.

It's not a cure, but I've found wearing a blackout eye mask has been helping a lot with the early morning post-pee insomnia. Even if I can't get back to sleep it at least feels as if my eyes have had a rest.
Hope it helps!

..blackout eye mask and ear plugs.. i havent a hope of sleeping without ear plugs, hubby doesnt even snore, but even his breathing (and not a lot i can do about that!) keeps me awake. I have blackout blinds so that sorts out the light issue!

As a matter of interest Essex, would you try an accupuncturist? i went before and he told my blood was too hot, asked me was i eating a lot of chili/garlic- and by god i was- addicted to chilis at the time, have cut them out of my diet since and do sleep a bit better. I was overheating from too much chili! and ginger and garlic comes in the same category.

oh i could have wrote your post, I'm 10 weeks and haven't slept well in about 6 weeks, i cried at work last week because i was so tired. i have just been saying to myself it will be better in the second trimester. oh i hope it gets better!!!

i don't think DH is making it any better or worse, im just awake from about 3am whether he is there or not, i actually woke him up on Saturday night with all my tossing and turning

must look into yoga!

Pilates, swimming and hypnobirthing tracks are helping me at the moment. Can't wait for maternity leave as I could get a good quality few hours sleep in the day and at this point I'm so desperate I'll take sleeping in the day and being awake at night if necessary!

I tend to find listening to a hypnotherapy style relaxation CD works to keep me sleeping through the night. You could also talk yourself slowly through the parts of your body... So work up from toes, feet, ankles, calves, knees, hips, sides etc, up to your shoulders, down arms.... Imagine as you think each bit that you're letting go of any tension. I usually fall asleep before reaching sides or arms, really good way to get back to sleep.

I have The Big Bang Theory episodes ready to go. One on to fall asleep to which I invariably do, then play it again when I wake.

Trouble is im now conditioned to fall asleep whenever itcomes on.
