I am 24+3 and woke up yesterday feeling unwell. I have lost my appetite, feel nauseous, have had a very had headache that hasn't gone away, have had uti symptoms. Midwife found protein and glucose in my urine 2-3 weeks ago but uti test came back fine. I feel very tired and drained and generally unwell. I went to the out of hours doctors. I had protein, white blood cells and glucose in my urine. He said I probably had a stomach bug and maybe pregnancy diabetes and to go to the gp on Monday to check for a urine infection. I'm in a lot of pain. Baby is kicking fine. I'm freaking out about white blood cells in my urine and feel that I should be checked more thoroughly with everything and to see my gp Monday feels like I'm being assumed as an over anxious mum, I feel like I should trust his judgment but he has just made me worry more. Am I being over anxious or should I call the midwife/antenatal ward :/

It's always safer just to call. It'll put your mind at ease and no one will say you are being over anxious. Especially if you're in pain!

I would call if you're worried and in pain. Yes it could and likely is just a stomach bug, but glucose is a sign of gestational diabetes and protein is a sign of pre-eclampsia. I'd say its worth getting checked out just to stop you worrying.

No not over anxious at all with those symptoms. Did they do a finger prick test to check your sugar levels? Did they check your temperature? Either way get in touch with the midwife - better to be safe than sorry.

Yes, that's why midwives are on call 24/7.

Thank you for your replies. I called the maternity triage at the hospital who told me to have a hot bath and call back an hour later, which I did. I was still in pain and having Braxton hicks. I went into hospital and they did a test which said I could be going into labour, so I got given steroid injections, and 2 drips to help stop the contractions and transferred to a different hospital 60 miles away. The contractions have completely stopped and baby is healthy! I need to have the 2nd steroid injection tonight and baby has been fine the whole time :) and don't know when I will be going home but everything is looking ok! It was a bit scary at times, especially when the baby doctor was explaining what would happen if he was born now and the consultant asking how id like to proceed if I went into labour! :s

Glad I got a second opinion!!!

That must have been scary!

It's a good job you got checked out again!

Here's hoping the rest of your pregnancy is complication free!
