Lying on front or back

I'm 28 weeks and desperate to lie on front or back. Love being in swimming pool and floating...

I have a theraline beady maternity pillow which is v shaped. I'm wondering if I could lie on my front with that around bump to support rest of me so no pressure on bump. Back is sore and I just feel if I could stretch out flat I'd feel better.

I can't lie on my back as I feel faint quite quickly and often wake up breathless /panicking on my back at night these days.

Just wondered if anyone else has used cushions in this way or had any suggestions!

Thanks in advance!

Id give anything to sleep on my front, but I just cant, its too painful.
I found using a douvet as a support for my bump was more comfy than a pillow, on my side.
Im the same as you, on my back I wake up breathless, which is clearly our body's way of telling us to roll over.

Hmmm I suppose I could try and see how uncomfy I am....I'm not even worrying about sleeping... Just a nice lay down to stretch out my back...

I really want to lie on my front. I'm so uncomfortable now (36 weeks). Can't wait till I can sleep on my front again.

I would also love to sleep on my front. Before I became pregnant I would always sleep on my front and was sooo comfy! Now I am on my side with a dream genie pillow but my hips are always hurting no matter what angle I lie at.

is it really bad to sleep on your right hand side? I toss and turn so much that I do end up sleeping on the right hand side or my back for some of the night. But I'm worried I'll harm the baby?

I tend to sleep on my left side wrapped around my big long maternity sausage pillow, or on my front (until baby wakes me up kicking!) but I nap on my back - I've read a lot of advice that tells us to listen to our own bodies; we'll know if it's not right for the baby etc.

I dream of the days I get to lay on my front again, before pregnant that's the only way I sleep on my front with hand under pillow......arghhhh those were the days, I found after 22 weeks I had to lay on side. If I turn over on my back I start snoring lol. I wake up with pins and needles laying on my arm, I'm 32 weeks and impossible to lay on front if I even lay slightly on my front baby kicks me telling me to shift lol

I didn't think right side was bad?

It's just something I heard and might not be true. When I was last pregnant 9 years ago there was no advice about it at all so I'm quite sure I slept on my right side loads.

To stretch out my back I have got a little pilates ball, I lie with that by my shoulder blades. It really opens up my back and rib cage, very comfy!

I lie on my right or left. Definitely couldn't on my back, this ginormous baby squashes me and I can't breathe.

Lying on left is supposed to reduce stillborn risk and provide best environment for baby to develop... I think I read that on nhs website.

Alas tried the v cushion thing... Not very comfy. Bump quite big.

Here's an NHS thing about it. Suggests that the study done wasn't very reliable and that there isn't sufficient evidence to suggest that sleeping on the left reduces the risk of stillbirth. Which I am very glad about! lol

I toss and turn but usually end up on my sides. I have a Snoozle maternity slide sheet because I have quite bad PGP and it's hard to move around in bed. Sometimes I wake up on my back and feel like I'm suffocating but I can't sleep through the night on one side, my hips hurt too bad.

From what I understand sleeping on your left side is just slightly better as more blood flows to your heart and thus the rest of your body/your baby. But I don't think that means you should restrict yourself to left side always, that seems bonkers. It's just something that someone studied once. I say do what feels right and comfortable, your body will talk to you.
