It's Sunday and I don't want to disturb anyone but I'm worried. I'm 9+2 weeks and had a fab scan on Friday which was bang on for dates, lovely heartbeat and a little wriggler. This is my second pregnancy as I miscarried (MMC) at 6 weeks in October.

On Friday night there was a pink tinge twice when I wiped after a wee and last night I had some blood on wiping a few times - not bright red but not old brown stuff either.

I've had some cramps today and there is old brown looking blood on my liner now.

I know people can bleed and it be ok but I also know its 50/50. Is old blood good? I'm not going to google in case I scare myself.

Thank you for your patience.

Call your mw/early pregnancy unit and see what they say. It may well be nothing but its best to put your mind at rest. I had a bleed with dd at 11 wks preg and all was ok. Rest and put your feet up. I hope all settles soon.

You need to call someone even if it's just to put your mind at rest.
They don't mind what day it is you know!
Hope all's well opThanks

Usually brown blood is ok, if its red then its not so good.

Can you call your epu and self refer?

However, I had really bad cramps and some red blood spotting with my second pg, dd2 was the result!

I would call your midwife. Hope everything is ok OP.

Midwives are on call 24/7. Give them a call!

Call the EPU, especially if you have had a scan and seen heartbeat etc.

I had a red bleed followed by a week of brown at 10/11 weeks, scan showed it was from outside the uterus. I'm now 37 weeks.

If it's crown it's old, possibly older that the scan, but I don't know how long it takes for red blood to become brown so don't quote me on that.

Definitely call your EPU - it's what they're there for. But be reassured that a good scan at 9 weeks is basically the same in terms of outcomes as the 12 weeks scan.

I had pink/brown blood for three weeks in the first trimester; 37 weeks tomorrow. It was absolutely terrifying (like you I'd had a previous mc) but ultimately turned out fine.

I had old brown spotting at 7 weeks and 10 weeks - baby was fine on both occasions. I had a big fresh bleed at 14 weeks and again, baby was fine. Following this fresh bleed I continued to spot (brown blood) for 5 days but the midwives weren't concerned.

Definitely ring your EPU for advice - they have always been very reassuring in my experience.

Did they do an internal scan on Friday? Could be as simple as it's disturbed your cervix and caused a slight erosion - not dangerous or problematic in the slightest.

Having been through a MMC myself I know how terrifying it is when pregnant again, I'd ring your EPU and ask for another scan personally although you will probably have to wait til Monday.

And congratulations on your pregnancy!

I had two bright red bleeds, one a scary gush at 8 weeks, and another scary gush at 12 weeks, and I have a 24 week old very healthy baby in there. Of course seek reassurance and help from your midwife, but red blood is not always bad. Above all, try to stay calm, for yourself and your baby both (I know this is difficult!) There have been a lot of threads about this subject, loads of women have bleeds and are okay, so try to keep perspective. Good luck to you!

Thank you all for replying. Our EPU isnt open today but I work in the hospital so will go over before my shift starts (with a full bladder in the hope she can squeeze me in!). I didnt have a transvaginal scan on Friday but the cramps and spotting are no worse so Im going to stay calm. I couldnt get an answer when I tried the number I had for the midwives. Thank you all for your reassurance, I really appreciate it.

Just thought I'd update for anyone who checks back. I had a scan at the EPU this morning and all is fine - so relieved! Thank you.
