How much sleep are you getting...?

I'm 35 weeks with my first tomorrow and Oh my god I could sleep for Britain. If sleeping was to be in the Winter Olympics I think I'd win Grin last night I was in bed for 12 hours, and I've just had an hours nap, but I can easily nap for upto 2/3 hours and still sleep of a night time. I'm on iron tablets and tiredness can be down to lack of iron but I'm worried I'm sleeping too much (if that's possible?!) am making the most of it while I can though.

Ah, your first...

I was basically getting to the edge of some sort of breakdown this week on 8ish hours a night, sometimes a bit longer, sometimes woken by one or other of the kids.

Yesterday I slept 12 hours out of the 24 (including a 90 minute nap) and just about felt normal.

Purple - on Thursday night, I literally went to bed as soon as the kids did. I left all the tidying, all the jobs, abandoned all idea of tv or reading. It's the only way...

I'm only 30 weeks, so I've got a long way to go. I would say, enjoy it while you can.

36 weeks with dc3 and not getting much sleep at all. Tossing and turning, uncomfortable, need a wee, children waking me up. I'm looking forward to having this baby and at least I will be physically a lot more comfortable and the sleep I will get will be much better quality.

I'm 24 weeks and seem to need loads at the moment too. Slept for 12 hours last night, got up at 10, then fell asleep again at 2 and slept for 3 hours Smile this is my first do I'm making of the most of it!

31 weeks and sleeping well some nights but not others . DS (3.3) wakes some nights and not others. He is always up and raring to go by 7.30am at the very latest, usually an hour earlier. And he doesn't nap at lunchtime any more, so no chance of a nap for me either. So in answer to the original question, I would say not enough!

Same gestation as you to the day!

I manage 4-5 at night (pretty broken due to SPD pain and DH's snoring.. and one of the older three coming through) and then pass out from exhaustion during the afternoon and get anywhere from 10 minutes to two hours depending on whether I'm looking after the 2 year old or not.

I just see it as preparation for when baby comes. I had a lot more sleep with DC1 and found the transition to sleepless nights horrendous. It was more like this with DC2 and DC3 and I actually found myself sleeping better after they arrived because at least I wasn't in pain any more so the sleep I had was deeper!

Same as MummyPig - 36 weeks and constantly uncomfortable and needing a wee which gives me BH and makes me even more uncomfortable. BH are starting to get a bit painful too now to the extent I thought I might actually be having contractions last night - ugh.

In short - sleep is just not really happening at the moment. Catnapping on the sofa is my friend but not started Mat Leave properly yet so going out of my mind a bit.

Long forward to having the baby so even if I'm getting sod all sleep at least I can get properly comfy for the first time in 6 months!

It's my turn for a lie in this morning but I don't sleep. I tend to go to bed earlier to make up for the lack of sleep. I was up at 2 for a wee and awake for an hour.

Only a few weeks and I won't be pregnant ever again and I will have a lovely little baby!

Another here at 36 weeks and not gettin much decent sleep. My older ds usually wake me at least twice a night and between that and the numerous wee's and back ache i find im awake at leat 6/7 times and then i also have insomnia in the early hours!

Im looking forward to beby being out as even though a new born will be keeping me up ile be able to have more quality sleep inbetween.

Id say just enjoy this while you can op as with second and so on babies its not an option. You might find the transition from lots of sleep to not very much a bit of a shock but all new parents do so worry about that once its here.

Im 32 weeks. I don't no if my sleeping will get worse but I'm sleeping a lot better than what I was in the first and second trimester, I was getting 3 hours in 1st.

I do find I'm up a lot for a wee, but get bk to sleep straight away. Plus this is my first baby so I don't have other children to tend to.

Totally shot my self in the foot now and probs won't sleep properly any more lol

32 weeks and I can't sleep! I get about 3 hours in a row at the start of the night and from then on I wake up every hour or so needing the loo and often I can't get back to sleep for ages after this because of restless legs or just feeling wide awake. Total pain in the ass!

Im not great but not awful far. Im 30 weeks.

In bed with lights off around 8 hours but only sleeping 6.5 unbroken on a night when I have no work next day and about 5 - 6 hours unbroken when I have work next day (work only 3 days per week).

Think this is because im thinking about the morning dash to dress toddler, haul us both with bags to car and get to nursery for breakfast on time.

I seem to wake well before alarm and cant get back to sleep as I have cramp from knees down.

Cant wait to be on maternity leave which i think will take around 35/36 wks.

I am wondering if it's partly the beta blockers keeping me awake. Got about 4 hours last night. At this rate maternity leave might have to start early :-(

I'm 34 weeks and was sleeping really bad from around 30 weeks (as well as still having lots of nausea) and running on empty. But have taken a few days off work have had some lovely 12 hr mega sleeps and am now starting to feel human. My midwife said my iron levels are good and it's just one of those 3rd trimester things so get the rest if your body needs it. Apparently theres also a big energy surge and stop feeling exhausted in a few weeks too! Looking forward to that.
