Spotting at 6 weeks

Hi,

I'm currently 6+3 and have just had a small amount of pink spotting when wiping.

I'm freaking out as I had a MMC last year. I've wiped a few times since and there has been nothing. I did have mild period pain cramps earlier but nothing at the moment.

My head is saying ring NHS direct but my heart is saying its nothing.

I know this is normal but I'm still scared.

Hi there, I haven't experienced this but didn't want to read and run. If you are in any doubt, I would call and get some advice otherwise its going to be playing on your mind! That is what they are there for.

Everything is probably fine so please don't worry :)

Hi jay

Please ring NHS Direct if you need to. I did! You may be able to get an early scan for reassurance or get checked out at an early pregnancy unit? I've had bleeding in every single one of my pregnancies and in only one of the four was it anything to worry about.

Of course you are scared and freaked out. Particularly given that you have been through the horribly sad experience of a MMC last year. But please try not to worry until you have absolutely have to.

Crossing my fingers for you.

I had spotting at what I thought was six weeks, turned out I was only four weeks so it was implantation. Get an early scan at your early pregnancy unit. Best of luck to you x

Hi Jay, I've had spotting for the last week (I'm 6 weeks) and docs all say it's normal and implantation. They won't scan until am 7 weeks but I've had a blood test and having another today so that they can check if hcg hormone is rising (which it should if all ok). May out your mind at rest. I couldn't wait another week for a scan and just needed some indication that all was ok. Even though docs have said it's normal hasn't stopped me being an anxious mess. Xxx

Thanks for all your reassurance, I'm currently trying to get through to the docs. I've been looking up the EPU and in this county we cant self refer.
Nothing has happened since.

Good Luck Kel today. I hope everything is ok x

I'm currently 6 weeks pregnant and have had something very similar (pink spotting & tummy cramps, similar to period pains) over the past two days although it seems to have stopped at the mo, completely understand how you're feeling. It's mind-boggling...if I check the internet as there seem to be differing views on this kind of thing. I'm very lucky as I'm able to self refer to my local epu so have booked an early scan for this Monday, that said I'll be terrified as hate hospitals! Let us know how you get on, hope all is fine & you will be reassured & feel better soon xx

As others have mentioned, 2 blood tests 24hr apart can be very reassuring- ask your GP?

I am also pg after mc, and had a bit of spotting, terrified me but it tailed off then I had a good scan - so fx for you.

Jay keep calling and be really persistent. I had to pretty much demand the blood tests! And am also demanding an early scan. They're a bit rubbish until you're further on in your pregnancy and you really have to fight for their time. My first blood test showed high levels of pregnancy hormones. So relieved. All crossed for the results of the second. Keep us posted xx

Thanks for all the new messages.

I've been to the doctors and he said their is nothing he could do and it would be more stressful going to EPU for a scan as nothing could prevent a MC. He said I was to take the weekend off work and the inevitable would happen. I came out of the doctors more stressed than when I went in. The also gave me the spiel about 1 in 3 end in MC etc.

I've booked a doctors appointment in a week with a different doctor to push for a scan. I've called in sick this weekend which I feel really guilty about.

Good luck to Shooting Star and Kel with all your results and scans.

jay Try and rest over the weekend - I was in exactly your position and had a EPU scan at 6 weeks , but wasn't far enough along for them to confirm anything so went back at 8 weeks.

If the spotting has stopped now and only showed up when you wiped that is a good sign. I've had spotting like that w5, w9 and again in w15 and w16 and I'm now 25 weeks along and everything is fine.

Don't feel guilty about calling in sick, it's better to lie down and make sure you are calm and take it easy until you can find out what is going on. Fingers crossed!

Jay...I'm so sorry that the silly doctor wasn't more reassuring or understanding.
BEE has said it all & you mustn't feel at all guilty about calling in sick, you are the #1 priority right now, no-one else, remember that.
Thinking of you x

Hello,

I just wanted to wish you good luck. I am (hopefully) 6 weeks pregnant too, had pains like you described last weekend (the day after my BFP) - I called NHS Direct who suggested speaking to the out of hours GP, who then referred me to the EPU. I had a scan and blood test on Thursday, I have to go back tomorrow for another blood test.

It's a scary time isn't it.

Thinking of you all.
