Rolling onto stomach in sleep

Does anyone have any tips to avoid accidentally rolling onto stomach in sleep? I've bought one of those long bolster pillows and tucked it between my legs and in front of my bump, but there have been a couple of times when my lower leg has come out from under it and I've woken up lying on my stomach with the baby kicking like mad! I'm hoping this hasn't hurt him in any way. I'm 29 weeks pregnant.

I use to lie in the recovery type position, so kind of on your front but without the weight on your belly, using pillows to fill the gap so I couldn't roll any further over.

The general advice from my midwife was if the baby is uncomfortable they will wake you up and you will move, which is whats happening for you.

That's kind of how I'd ended up but I'd flopped right over onto my belly

Good to hear the advice from your midwife though, was worried that I'd squash his head or starve him of oxygen!

Your body will wake you up if you are uncomfortable, r your baby is, don't stress. You are fine to sleep however is comfortable.

Seriously, the human race would have died out hundreds of years ago if some of the ridiculous scaremongering on sleeping positions was true Smile

If he's kicking lots he must have plenty of oxygen! Plus I don't think you can really squash them as they've got all the amniotic fluid protecting them.

Wish I could sleep on my front! Way too uncomfortable...

I only sleep on my stomach and I'm 34 weeks. Surprised I can still do it quite honestly as it was too painful after 24 weeks during my first pregnancy - this one I'm still in my old faithful recovery position.

Doesn't stop me snoring like a hippo though...

Thanks everyone, feeling a bit more reassured now. I think I've found a pillow arrangement that stops me rolling (fingers crossed) the only problem now is that I keep waking with pain in my left hip where I'm lying on it :-s

I just wedge myself in like a manic woman. I've got a dreamgenii and 2 other pillows i wedge around myself.

Feeling the ache pains as well, the price of lying in the same position everynight. Gotta love back ache, urgh!

This has made me giggle! I was the same with my DS, used to wake up about 4 times a night flat on my face. I only mastered the pillow wedging after about 30 weeks.
