Hyperemesis Support

(980 Posts)
LucindaE Fri 31-Jan-14 13:58:10

I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
Another invaluable website is:
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
024 7638 2020

I would like to thank Everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Wowee I had such a great day yesterday! So glad I was feeling good on my birthday. I had a normal eating day and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Cereals, bacon roll, an ice cream from the best ice cream factory ever and a roast chicken dinner cooked by my mum grin I'm 11+2 today and seriously surprised at how good I'm feeling. I don't want to count my chickens but I hope I'm on the up for a bit.
How is everyone else?

LucindaE Mon 17-Mar-14 11:26:16

OK, I hope people feel well enough to troop over to our new home, as this thread's running out of space.

LucindaE Mon 17-Mar-14 10:55:42

Thanks, Meerka efficient as ever. I'll add it.

Meerka Mon 17-Mar-14 10:50:37

Oh I see smile

yes, sure, Ive got the prescribing info page bookmarked:!prescribinginfosub

there's also the rather useful Goals page with that lovely line "To reduce time off work and other lifestyle disruptions caused by symptoms"

Meerka MOH (Margaret O'Hara) who used to call in on this thread set up the Pregnancy Sickness SOS website. Though I've got that and the Pregnancy Sickness Support link and phone number on the current blurb, so that's easy enough to copy over - thickhead Mother Hen can't find the proper NICE guidelines link online. Sorry about this - you don't happen to have the best link?
Booboosto I'll add that one the new thread - you'll get there, edging forward, though it seems an eternity...

Booboostoo Mon 17-Mar-14 06:46:14

14 September...a long way off!

Meerka Sun 16-Mar-14 20:03:02

yes, the Sickness support webbie + phone number and (if it's not too overegging things) the Nice guideline site too.

Im sorry, I am not quite sure what MOH stands for -?

Soon time for a new thread: Mereka Muddle headed Mother Hen wants to know what additional links did you suggest as well as the phone number and MOH's website? Was it the NICE guidelines?

ChaffinchOfDoom Sun 16-Mar-14 09:49:00

LucindaE Sun 16-Mar-14 09:38:35

elizabethsmum Hugs, that's so sad,and she sounds as if she was a great friend. I'm glad you like the badge, I wish they still had that sparkly one available...
livingzuid I do hope the walk goes well. IIn a banal way, I connect the Netherlands with spring bulbs, tulips...
Hope Everyone is reasonably OK today.Pickofthepops Are you home?

livingzuid Sun 16-Mar-14 08:30:19

Elizabeth so sorry about your friend sad

Cleaned the flat last night then nearly vomited at bedtime. It has been a while since I came that close. Cue another sleepless night on the sofa as well. But it's a beautiful day today and determined to enjoy a walk.

elizabethsmum Sat 15-Mar-14 21:45:14

Thanks everyone. Friend was particularly supportive during my preg with the twins- it is very poignant to me that she was first diagnosed when I had just found out I was pg and she was in hospital same time as me at one point- I dragged myself across to her ward to visit her and we had matching drips! Sorry that you are feeling yuck again starry as champagne says if you can get through hg labour is a doddle- it is amazing how well you feel straight after!
I absolutely love the badge lucindae!
Waves at everyone and thanks again for your kind words xx

LucindaE Sat 15-Mar-14 18:22:25

SliceofLime I meant to say it's interesting about fresh air - as in sitting in garden. Someone on this thread swore by sea air, but for most people that means a longish journey...Also, really glad things are improving for you.
Waves to Meerka and Booboostu and others.

Meerka Sat 15-Mar-14 17:49:37

so sorry, elizabethsmum

Booboostoo Sat 15-Mar-14 17:05:42

So sorry elizabethsmum. A friend of mine died this past autumn of breast cancer and it is very difficult to deal with.

SliceOfLime Sat 15-Mar-14 16:09:56

So sorry to hear that elizabethsmum sad

Love the. Badge Lucinda!

LucindaE Sat 15-Mar-14 13:06:18

Got it!

LucindaE Sat 15-Mar-14 12:44:41

elizabethsmum Really sorry - that's awful - you must be shocked, hugs.
Champagnebubble Really sorry I missed your two visits - lovely message from you - see below.
Pickofthepops So agree with Meerka - with 4+ ketones you must have felt dreadful - so glad things have improved a bit.
Tallyra and Chaffinch and Everyone about burning cyclizine - sounds awful, just when you thought you'd be getting some relief.
Grrr I thought I'd found this Hyeremesis badge amongst my downloads and now I can't find it again, though it's not the lovely sparkly one they had on a US website that used to be on photobucket, though. I'll keep looking.
How is everyone on this spring like day?
Apologies - am sure to have cross posted...

elizabethsmum Fri 14-Mar-14 23:46:13

Hi all
Sorry not been around for a few days very tough week - lost a dear friend this week to a rare form of cancer. Just quickly marking place on thread again and will be back to offer moral support asap xxxx

SliceOfLime Fri 14-Mar-14 19:18:09

Hello everyone, just been catching up, sorry that starrynight and pickofthepops and others have been having such a hard time, I've been thinking of all you ladies a lot. Chaffinch 12 DAYS!!!!!!! More than a bit excited on your behalf, roll on the end of puking. Oh and of course seeing your beautiful baby grin

I've been doing pretty well touch wood, dealing with food a lot better. 19.5 weeks and I seem to remember improving around this sort of time last time round. Fresh air helps now that I'm slightly better (for those who were asking about going out) but when I was a my worst it was just a punishment and not helpful at all. Really hoping for no relapse now...

mrsb87 Fri 14-Mar-14 16:51:58

I refused cylizine too, had an awful reaction to it. It turns out my brother had a similar reaction after he had it after chemo.

Tallyra Fri 14-Mar-14 16:42:36

I refused cyclizine for ages because of a badly administrated one. It needs to be done REALLY slowly.

ChaffinchOfDoom Fri 14-Mar-14 15:58:15

they injected cyclizine into my leg. then admitted its one of the worst injectibles -crazily painful. it burrrrrrns

glad you're recovering a little pickpop

Meerka Fri 14-Mar-14 14:21:35

oh Im glad you were taken in and put on a drip, pick. 4+ ketones is not good.

I hope you feel better once you're home. take care.

Pickofthepops Fri 14-Mar-14 14:14:14

Dear all thanks so much again or encouragement yesterday. Have been in on drip and drugs, mainly good apart from the devils own dose of cyclizine they tried. I felt a zillion times worse again instantly. Food staying down just banging head. My reward is a scan in 10 mins before my official one on 26/3 then think I can go home. Ketones were 4+ yday so did feel rough x
Best wishes to you ladies throwing up today and wishing others a sunny mix day talk soon thanks again x
