So I've been awake since 2:30...(29 Posts)
Haven't slept a wink since, god I'm going to be crappy for the rest of the day every time I try and drift off, my 30 week old bump (well as of tomorrow!) keeps moving around and I can't get comfy cramps in my legs, thirsty, and achy hips...
Sorry for the whinge, just after a bit of sympathy
Go to the loo & get a small drink of water.
Read a book (it's nearly morning)
Turn off your tablet/mobile (the type of light keeps you awake)
Try not to stress about being awake. It will probably keep you awake!
Sympathy. I had awful insomnia all the way through my pregnancy. Rubbish isn't it.
I've been awake since 3.30. I'm 36+6 and given up on the idea that I'll have caught up on sleep before baby arrives.
I've peed & had a drink (think it was what I had for dinner that has dehydrated me )
I could turn off my phone, but I can't sleep and keep tossing and turning; am worried I'll wake dh
I'm thinking, do I get up if I'm still awake at 6, or lay here and sleep in until god knows when and feel shattered when I do wake up, or get up, do some housework before I get too tired
Sympathies to you, sucks doesn't it! I got to sleep at 3 and now I'm awake again too thinking the junk I ate yesterday was a mistake as.I'm now so full of wind I feel like a hot air balloon! Good luck with.the housework, maybe do s little then a cat nap as a reward?

Noooo! Not 42 weeks
We'll I'm up, have treated myself to a toasted tea cake, cuppa and food network on the tv. Might have a power nap once I've had my tea, tiredness is setting in but I've set myself up comfortable on our huge foam bean bag.
just seen your other thread abot cot and storage so I'll answer here.
under cot boxes are useful for things like blankets, cot sheets, grobags, nappies & wipes even
I used to change my kids on top of a chest of drawers that was the right height (never bought a dedicated changing unit) but I still prefer to change them either on the bed or on the floor on a changing mat
I just find it more comfortable.
plus as they get heavier (and you are pg with the next) lifting them up is not an option!
I think a tallish chest of drawers will serve you well - although I did buy a clothes rail for hanging up DD's dresses (I went crazy with dresses, she is my first girl after 5 boys! )
I think it's a mistake to buy "permanent" furniture before baby is say 6 months old or even older - a beautiful nursery looks great ina catalogue, but odd bits of used stuff is way cheaper and sometimes fits a purpose way better once you know what your style of organising requires!
so I'd say wait with anything that is not absolutely necessary - and add things as you go along.
I've had 9 hours sleep in 48. I am shattered
Building flat pack nursery furniture isn't helping my mood either....
Completely sympathise. I'm 17+4 with 3rd and am surviving (just) on very little sleep.
Everyone been ill and up and down through the night. I can see dark circles appearing under eyes

I hate it. I am usually awake between 1am and 5ish, if I'm lucky I will drift off for a couple of hours, weekdays I'm up at 7 for school run. I find it impossible to nap too.
28 weeks with a baby who never stops moving, especially at night.
so I just got up witha blinking headache.
was up from 4 am till about 8am - as still in bed I managed to fall asleep.
but my morning plans are ruined.
it's so frustrating.
I had 2 half hour naps, and some breakfast, but I know I'll have dinner and flop tonight fingers x I sleep better and so do the rest of you! I don't know about anyone else, but my baby isn't half fidgety a good sign I know but comfort is well and truly out the window
I slept from 2.30 till 4, then found the dog and cuddled him dozing from about 7-8 when my alarm went off to take my medicine.
I am 19 weeks and have a ton of stuff on my mind that culminated in a crying fit at DH around 9am when he woke up (I wanted him to lie in, not his fault he is lovely!).
I seem to rotate between sleeping ok aside from getting up 3 times for night pees and having very strange dreams, to 1-2 hours a night and still with all sorts of dreams. My only bonus is that I am no longer working so at least I am not fighting sleep at work which I was last year.
DH is bringing home popcorn and chocolate milkshake making material to cheer me up, along with a couple of movies and a cuddle on the sofa tonight.
I am sorry we are all going through this. Hope we don't meet on this tread again tonight
Me too Living. I also (thank god!!!) aren't working so am so grateful I can snooze when I want and this is dc 1 so just myself and dh to think of at the moment. Not quite sure how I'll cope in a few years I'll have to!
Our poor dh's do take a battering sometimes, mine is pretty good. He's gotten better the further along I've gone. In the first trimester when I kept being sick he was like a lost sheep; had no idea how to help (not that he could!) and kept commenting how badly bruised my skin looked from all the strain I was having when retching funny looking back, at the time, not so much!
K8eee mine was the same. He used to say how helpless he felt bless him. We are lucky to have such nice fellas I reckon!
He wanted me to wake him up so we could both have insomnia together but that makes no sense to me! The romance is truly dead at the moment but he's just made some homemade popcorn for me and I am feeling like I have the worst hangover ever so hoping to pass out soon.
This is our first as well and I'm with you on what on earth will it be like if we have another and a toddler to look after! In awe of women who can do that
Oh bless him. Dh felt awful this morning when he realised how long I had been awake and blamed himself.
Yep with you on the lack of romance today we've spent the day in our pjs; we have been productive but been passing lots of cuddles and kissed to each other. I feel so ugly too at the moment which doesn't help, but it's part of pregnancy!
We want a really big family, not sure how this will work but I definitely do admire those women who have more than one child
Try a body pillow and some paracetamol at the ready for if the pain starts. It really helps.
I managed to get 7 hours on Saturday night and 6 hours last night - I can't believe it, absolute luxury
My routine these last two nights has been:
1 Huge mug of hot chocolate before bed.
2 Smothered my feet, calves and knees in cream that is for restless and sore legs.
3 Take two paracetamol.
4 Take a hot water bottle to bed with me and keep my feet and calves either rested on it or leaning against it.
It seems to have done the trick for now and I have fallen asleep much quicker and stayed asleep too Its been lovely being able to share a bed with my husband again as opposed to me always migrating to the spare room so I don't disturb him
For the last few weeks I've been waking up every 2hrs then if I'm awake between 2-4am I take another hour or so to drop off again. Sometimes I'm wide awake then and just can't sleep which means a very exhausting day. The other night I had constant wind so found it hard to sleep, or I get restless legs or a thumping headache. But will all be worth it in the end!

Dh upset me last night as well, so went to bed not talking. No doubt it wi turn into an argument today (because in his eyes, he's never in the wrong). With that on my mind, I dropped off at 1 and woke at 2.30...don't think I'll get any more sleep tonight.
You ok loopy? If DH and I go to bed in a huff the worst bit is he still sleeps like a log while I brood!
The baby has had its first case of hiccups tonight - would be cute if it wasn't at 3.30
