Dermoid ovarian cyst and pregnancy...

Hi ladies

I'm 13+4 weeks pregnant and 2 1/2 weeks ago I was rushed into hospital with extreme abdominal pain.

Turns out I have a dermoid cyst on my left ovary and it had twisted round 8 times!!

Anyway, had emergency surgery, they first tried keyhole but ended up having to cut me open like a c section ð??? to untwist it and stitch it into place to aid it not happening again.

My cyst at that time was 9-10cm. I had my dating scan on Tuesday and it's now 11cmConfused

I have an app with the consultant on Tuesday.

I was wondering if anybody has gone thro this? I'm worried they want to remove it before Xmas. I'm currently still housebound due to pain still (caused by cyst I think) and still get very weak/dizzy/breathless doing the simplest of tasks.

I'm really scared and worried as going thro another op, another recovery (which was pretty awful, couldn't get out of bed/go to loo unaided Hmm)

Also will I be able to have a vaginal birth? Or will it be c section as risk of rupture to scar??

Thanks ladies. Any advice/stories/experiences would be fantastic Smile

No real advice but I had similar around 11 weeks pg.

Luckily mine righted itself without surgery but have to empathise with the pain.

The doctor told me childbirth would be a breeze in comparison to the pain - it kinda was!

Good luck

Hi, I also have an ovarian dermoid cyst but they're leaving mine till after baby is born as it's not caused too many problems. I got a BFP at around 4 weeks (although thought I was between 6-8 weeks) and 2 nights later woke up in the night crying in agonising pain. DP took me straight to A&E and I went to the EPU in the morning for an emergency scan. Nothing at all in my uterus except a thickened lining and they found a dermoid cyst on one of my ovaries. Mines fairly big, it extends round the back of my uterus (eurgh!)
I was monitored for a suspected ectopic and it turns out I was just earlier on than I realised and implantation combined with the pregnancy hormones caused the pains.
I then had pains in my side at about 12-13 weeks which were caused by my growing uterus putting pressure on my cyst - as my uterus got bigger, I haven't had any issues since.
Am now 32 weeks and they checked my cyst at 12 and 20 week scans but no issues with it.
I was told I might need a c-section by one doctor but the consultant dismissed this and said there's no reason why I couldn't have a vaginal birth. Ask your consultant when you see him/her.
It's scary - especially when you didn't know you had it until you got pregnant! But ovarian cysts are very, very common and at the EPU the sonographer told me she seems them all the time and many women have them for years and no one realised until they start having scans during pregnancy. Don't panic, I think the procedure to remove them is pretty straight forward too.
Good luck for the rest of your pregnancy Flowers

Hello, I have a large cyst on my left ovary and I will be 13 weeks and 2 days pregnant when my OB/GYN takes the cyst out by C-Section. He said the cyst is too large to take out laparoscopically. Has anyone had a cyst taken out this way early in their pregnancy?
