Reduced movement. Please can someone reassure me?

I hadn't felt the baby move since last night so about lunchtime after sitting on my lunch break the whole hour with an ice cold drink trying to get him to move I rang the antenatal clinic.
They told me to go down so I did, they picked up baby's heartbeat straight away. I'm 30 weeks today.
They put me on a trace for an hour and he was moving on that, you could hear his movements but I could only just feel a few really faintly.
His heartbeat was going between 160 and 120 but the midwife said that's normal?
Still haven't felt a lot this afternoon and worried again. Why would I just suddenly not be able to feel my baby move anymore? So scared :(

I'm laid on my side now and can get a few faint movements just like when I was laid in the hospital this afternoon. Do you think he could be kicking into my back instead?

dont feel stupid i am on my third dc and never experienced this with the others so felt silly goin to get checked out but i was glad i did and the midwifes would rather we went and got checked out and it be nothing plus if it puts our minds at ease its an hour or so well spent on the monitor. i feel like i can go back if it happens again and not be seen as an over worrying mum to be

Have you been particularly active today- walking around a lot can rock baby off to sleep, as I'm sure you know it's when you sit/lay still that they would wake up again. Have you tried a cold drink again?
If you are ever worried about your babies movement go and get it checked. No one knows your babies pattern like you do. Please don't be put off because you have already been monitored, even if you go just for some reassurance. The midwives would far rather you phone/went in then sit at home worrying.

Yes Dd I work in a busy department store so am always on my feet walking around so never feel much movement when I'm stood up. However he hadn't moved at all since last night which is why I went to get checked out today.
since I've been lying down he's been a bit more active.

I had this with dd, got checked, movements picked up ok on trace, midwife said she'd moved positions. Always get checked, better safe than sorry

It could just be that your baby is getting bigger and has less room to move around, I think this can happen after week 30 onwards.. I'm sure if the midwives were concerned they wouldn't have let you go. x

Sorry katylou that's a myth - movements do not slow down as the baby gets bigger.

Hi op, I'm 30+5 and I had a few days earlier this week where I couldn't feel the baby as much as before- still had movement but it was much softer. Rang the hospital and they said it was the frequency of movement, not the nature of it iykwim! Baby has since started moving around a lot so it was obviously a quiet time. If you are really concerned ring again and good luck
