Wet Patch on Knickers - It's Wee, Right?

Julietee · 08/11/2013 20:40

Yeah... this keeps happening. Every time I go to the loo there's a wet patch, sometimes fairly large. It's never enough that I feel it escaping or running down legs or anything like that.
Seems to happen a lot some days then not at all on others. This evening has been particularly bad for it.

And it smells like urine (but then knickers tend to anyway, don't they?). It's wee, right? Not amniotic fluid?
I'm assuming it's the baby settling somewhere awkward?

Increased discharge in later weeks, would be my guess. What do you get when you wipe?

I'm 23 weeks, and have constantly damp Knicks...

I think it is increased (runnier) discharge.

Horry Pretty much clear, some whiteness. There's no residue that goes along with the patches. And as I say, there is wee smell!

(I don't believe in TMI :) )

It could be sweat. I went into hospital in a panic with damp pants and they said it definitely wasn't amniotic fluid - and then my holiday the following week in a hot country proved that it was indeed just a bad bad case of sweaty foof.

I have now found that there is no alternative to cotton pants - anything lycra/man made and I am awash.
(TMI for sure but hopefully helpful info to someone!)

definitely not sweat in this case, but thank you Smile Smile

Another vote for discharge. Couldn't get away without wearing a liner from 16 weeks. It's only been increasing since... And sometimes there is so much it does feel like I weed myself... 38 weeks now.

I had so much my midwife has given me some paper strips to test it. They go bright blue if it's my waters.

I constantly had wet knickers throughout my pregnancy, a mixture of discharge, sweat and wee I think!

My discharge was really watery so rarely left a residue so it could well be that.

I had to accept that my wet knickers were wee, I seem to leak little bits all day that I don't even notice Sad. I'm 33+4 and it's been going on for months. I find the Tena Lady thins very helpful.

I've had this for months too, been wearing a liner every day for ages - I just presumed I had a weak pelvic floor or something!!

Well, I'm happy to know this is common, but sorry the rest of you are damp too!

I am wearing pads everyday now too, I don't think it is wee though, it doesn't smell like wee.
My midwife has told me that increased discharge is normal and it is only an issue if it is offensive in smell or colour or has blood in, or actually soaks your underwear.
Buying TENA at 23 is such a fun thing to do! (Have to admit DH and MIL have bought a fair bit of it for me because I go red when they scan it at the till!)

I'm 20 weeks and have been wearing a panty liner every day for the last 3 weeks. I found the little damp patches were getting too frequent and too annoying.

I'm only 10 weeks but have noticed an increase in discharge.... my sister put it best when she said the vagina tap will be on a constant trickle until the end.

I've constantly got damp knickers - it varies between wee, discharge and sweat. I wore a pair of jammy bottoms last week with no knicks on - BIG mistake. I ended up with chaffed bits due to the dampness! It was sticky and horrible and yuck. Nothing to worry about though.

My knicks also range from smelling a bit like wee, like ripe yoghurt and a bit spermy. Yep, I don't believe in TMI either.

Pregnancy is gross.

Vikki - I had an increase inn discharge immediately, so much so that in the early weeks I kept rushing to the loo thinking I was bleeding. Week 24 -30 were 'I think I peed myself week'.

from other posters It seems v common. Please mention it at your midwife appointment though. I had this at 22 weeks and it was bulging and then ruptured membranes and I went into labour shortly after. If it gets more please do get it checked just in case. It is better to be safe. If it smells like wee it probably is!
