Open to all elderberry grads and anyone who fits the berry criteria: over 30, 1st to early 2nd trimester(ish) with #1 after trying for a loooong time, and nervous as hell. Come on in for handholding and nub theory!

Boomgoestheweasel Thu 05-Dec-13 20:31:08

Ooops, let me try that again New Thread

Boomgoestheweasel Thu 05-Dec-13 20:22:24

Yep funky they're on the grad group - have you joined that one?

Because we're running out of room:

funkymonk Thu 05-Dec-13 20:01:35

Hurrah Boom! Can't see the photos on Fb. Are they there yet?

Thunderpantsarego Thu 05-Dec-13 19:42:32

I think you just have to tell em you're going before this point. I don't remember the law on having to specify your actual leaving date but I'm not sure. My work are so lovely and they're v laid back- and don't know what they're doing either. Our policy named 8 weeks before and they're happy with that.

Have you had yet another date? Someone told me the 12 week dating scan was the most accurate, comparable time in the pregnancy so I wouldn't get anything other than that one!!

NotWithoutMyMerkin Thu 05-Dec-13 19:36:54

Thunder I thought the law was 15 weeks? If we make a list I need to figure out how many weeks I am again as I'm lost (again). Doesn't help that every midwife/doctor/sonographer I see picks a different due date grin

PuppyMummy Thu 05-Dec-13 19:33:09

good news boom smile

Thunderpantsarego Thu 05-Dec-13 19:31:16

Oo yes and good news on the appt kitty.

Shall we make like a bunny and make a list?

Thunderpantsarego Thu 05-Dec-13 19:30:14

Hooray boom lovely news and great pics. Well one of them is great at least. Do you reckon it's one boy and one girl?

merk no I need to tell them 8 weeks before I leave. I get my mat1B on mon at my 25 week appt. I've told them I will tell them though and I'm still leaning towards the 38 week mark.

Boomgoestheweasel Thu 05-Dec-13 19:12:10

Pics up!

Glad your appointment went well Kitty. I'm having noooo problems sleeping on my back at 20wks, wonder when I'll be sufficiently fat to roll over automatically?

Merk I'm jealous of your appletiser. I have cinnamon tea and it's not hitting the spot right now!

BlindKitty Thu 05-Dec-13 18:51:52

Fab news boom. Looking forward to the fb pics and trying to decipher what you're having as you're spoiling our fun fwink

Re the 'lying on your back' debate, mw said certainly not to worry at 16 weeks and that I'd be so uncomfortable on my back when I'll be bigger that I'll sleep on my side anyway.

So lovely listening to the babies heartbeat even though I use the doppler all the time

NotWithoutMyMerkin Thu 05-Dec-13 18:45:55

Great news Boom, I shall toast the twins with my delicious Appletise! Just a case of patience now then until they grow enough muscles that you can feel them beating you up... I do feel sorry for you as my lady can keep me awake and there's only one of her!

Boomgoestheweasel Thu 05-Dec-13 18:11:37

Sorry merk, phone died and I didn't have the charger! All seems to be ok, phew. Double anterior placenta confirmed, although luckily well away from the cervix, so no wonder I'm feeling absolutely nothing. Twin 1 smiled for the camera, Twin 2 refused to give us a good picture - I'll put them on FB in a bit. Bit put out that the scan report dates me as 19+6 when I think I'm 20+4, but that's neither here nor there, they've changed my due date at every appointment so far!

NotWithoutMyMerkin Thu 05-Dec-13 16:55:47

I'm planning on using my leave in Jan to go down to 3 day weeks in Jan/Feb and start Mat leave proper in Mar, so pretty early. But once we move house my commute will be hell. Thunder dont we need to tell them this week/next week at the latest? You need your MATB1

PuppyMummy Thu 05-Dec-13 16:38:25

tally im hoping to do a similar thing with maternity leave. so yes you can start mat leave after a hol. (presume your a teacher, I am?) its better to or u will start your mat pay and not get paid for the hol.

Im due at the end of spring bank half term, 31st may so im hoping to work up to end of half term then officially start the mat leave at the end of the hol.

However this will give me 6 days so 1.i may not manage it and 2.if baby is early I risk going into labour at school!

hoping baby will be a little late as it will really help with money if I can do it!

BlearyeyedLol Thu 05-Dec-13 16:34:47

Yeah I was supposed to leave 2 weeks earlier then a week and eventually stayed until the end. But that's because I work really close to home and had everything ready for the baby being the control freak that I am so would just wind myself up by staying at home waiting for baby to come!

Thunderpantsarego Thu 05-Dec-13 14:59:35

That's really helpful lol, although you did change your mind quite late on didn't you? hope I'm not saying too much!

BlearyeyedLol Thu 05-Dec-13 14:43:53

Re mat leave these are the things I believe you should consider...
- how demanding your job is
- how tiring
- the commute
- how long the days are
- how tired you are already feeling
- how well you cope with anxiety - being at home for weeks with no baby can be a bliss for some and a nightmare for others.

I left work on Friday and was due the following Tuesday. Baby came on Saturday gringrin

Thunderpantsarego Thu 05-Dec-13 14:40:38

Oh I see, you're thinking you should perhaps finish earlier?

Tallyra Thu 05-Dec-13 14:20:50

that's mostly what i meant. can I just don't know if that's a good idea, but I have no idea how big i'll be by then!

Thunderpantsarego Thu 05-Dec-13 13:03:13

Why would it not be wise tally? So if the baby's on time you would leave 2 weeks before which is what I think I'll do? You could always set your leave date to start at the end of the hols so if it's overdue you still don't go back? Or maybe I've misunderstood?

Tallyra Thu 05-Dec-13 12:56:54

I'm having a dilemma about when to start leave too. I'm due at the end of the easter hols so if I work til the end of term and use my normal holiday I can start leave when the baby is born, but can I do that and is it wise??

Angelina77 Thu 05-Dec-13 11:44:51

Morning all, good luck with the scan this afternoon boom thanks

Thunderpantsarego Thu 05-Dec-13 10:16:37

Erm.... I'm a.... Erm model. Innit.
Yeah that's it.

Boomgoestheweasel Thu 05-Dec-13 10:14:59

Haha actually good point lol, what were you wearing a wedding dress for thunder?

Thunderpantsarego Thu 05-Dec-13 10:14:59

lol grin who said wedding dress? Not me, oh no...,

boom get yourself down the shops lass. There's bound to be something out there you can hoik yourself into.
