My first child was overdue by 14 days. Will my second be just as late? I'm currently 32 weeks pregnant, due on the 16th december and don't want my baby to come on Christmas Day!

My friend is born on xmas day and loves it.

I'm also due on the 16th with my first. I actually have a fiver on giving birth on Christmas Day! Not too bothered when LO arrives as long as they are healthy.

Ah Jessica, I feel for you. I couldn't believe I was 'only' 4 days late with DC2 after also being induced 2 weeks over with dc1.

It's the not knowing that is so difficult. Be comforted that many many people have much better experiences with their second birth. I know you have the added stress of Christmas, but whenever your baby arrives, you will make their birthday special whatever day it is.

Sending due date birth vibes your way.

My first was due on 16th Dec and finally arrived on Boxing Day after a two day labour! I was so desperate to avoid a Christmas Day birth at first but by the time it arrived I was desperate for a Christmas Day baby just to get it over and done with. Hope yours comes earlier OP - I'm currently awaiting number 2's arrival - 39+3 and no sign yet smile

Yes I was also thinking the same, I may ask for a sweep a week before my due date and see what she says. I think I would cry if my pregnancy goes past the 23rd Dec.

TheFabulousIdiot Wed 23-Oct-13 09:55:37

I was due on 13th December and gave birth on 22nd.

I was in labour for 3 days. I asked about being induced at one point and they told me that the next day they could induce me would be Christmas day so I decided to wait for nature to take it's course.

One of my ante-natal friends had her baby on Christmas day.

Just come back and seen your q about pregnancies and births- both pregnancies fine, 1st birth hideous 77 hr nightmare followed by emcs, 2nd was 7 hr "lovely natural birth" according to midwife I would describe it somewhat differently. Completely different births, completely different babies! Good luck all who are due smile.

MrsEllsmore Wed 23-Oct-13 08:19:37

I'm due 15th Dec and convinced myself that if I was overdue I would be induced early as the hospital wouldn't want to do an induction between Christmas and new year, the midwife however informed me that they do inductions on Christmas day if they need to! I'm planning on keeping my fingers crossed from about the 10th!

MortifiedAdams Wed 23-Oct-13 08:11:58

grin I was due 16th dec and gave birth on the 19th so fingers crossed that happens for you too.

I went out dancing on the 17th which may have had something with it.

Jessica1992 Wed 23-Oct-13 08:10:02

I was induced 14 days over with my first :/ praying it doesn't happen again!

GoingToBedfordshire Wed 23-Oct-13 07:24:26

Who knows, but I really sympathise, so horrible being overdue especially over Christmas.

For me, dd1 due 21th Dec, was induced on 5th Jan. Dd2 was only 4 days late and dd3 7 days late, so I hope some positive stories give you hope!

Good luck OP.

TobyLerone Wed 23-Oct-13 07:10:42

Mine were both induced at 2 weeks late.

Chocolateteabag Tue 22-Oct-13 23:58:54

Snap Jess - due on the 16th of Dec with my second too!

DS was 6 days early but have been told that has no real bearing on whether this one will be early or late. I don't fanc a Christmas s birth though!

Jessica1992 Tue 22-Oct-13 21:06:42

I will do! 8 weeks and counting

Applepiesky Tue 22-Oct-13 21:00:41

Jessica1992 Tue 22-Oct-13 20:51:42

That's so reassuring girls thank you! I wouldn't mind an early baby I can't wait to meet him!

How was your pregnancies and births?

Ilovemydogandmydoglovesme Tue 22-Oct-13 20:48:34

First due on 18th Dec, came two days late.

Second two weeks early. No pattern whatsoever. grin

Applepiesky Tue 22-Oct-13 20:47:43

jess first baby for me so I haven't really got anything to compare it to!!

Wolfiefan Tue 22-Oct-13 20:46:11

First 6 days late.
Second 4 days early.

Jessica1992 Tue 22-Oct-13 20:44:18

And pregnancy?

Jessica1992 Tue 22-Oct-13 20:44:06

Ooh that's so nice to read! I'm extremely worried that he will be late I don't want to take Xmas day away from my first child.

Did you have a straight forward labour?

Bluebell99 Tue 22-Oct-13 20:40:31

My first was two weeks late and my second was two weeks early, so I don't think it's possible to say. My second was due mid January and arrived 30th December, on a very icy morning smile

Jessica1992 Tue 22-Oct-13 20:33:29

Definitely out of our control I don't think any of the remedies work sad is this your first or second child? Fingers crossed we both have our babies by Xmas day

Applepiesky Tue 22-Oct-13 20:30:16

I'm worried about a Christmas baby too as due on 19th Dec! But I just keep telling myself that it's out of my control and baby will come when baby wants to come! :-/ :-)
