I'm quite annoyed really!!
at 32 weeks I was 3/5 engaged and today at nearly 39 weeks baby's head is still 'free'

Its my third and I read that some don't engage until labour but I'm not even a tiny bit engaged! :-(
HAs anyone else been free at this stage and gone into labour by due date?

Also can they do a sweep if its not engaged or not?

Ty

Yep. I wasn't engaged at 39 weeks. Midwife held no hope and booked me for a sweep at 40+1, which I ended up cancelling as DD was born that day. I was in labour thinking, I must cancel that midwife appt!! I spent the last week eating, drinking the odd glass of wine and bouncing on my ball. Grin

If its any consolation, with ds2 at 40+5 I was officially "free at brim" so he was hanging about just above the pelvis Hmm He had been yoyoing in and out of my pelvis for about 3 weeks, my bump was high-low-high-low over and over. MW did a sweep that day anyway and he was born after a 2 hour labour the next day at 40+6 Smile

Yes. With Dc3. Who hung out transverse/diagonally until about 38 weeks. She didn't engage until onset of labour - which happened bang on time as she was born on due date.

thankyou! midwife said today that they may do sweep next week at appt at 39 +
Did your lazy babies get into a good position for birth?
I'm hoping I don't get a posterior position if head isn't engaging? (reading too much spinning babies!)

DS2 just swivelled himself around and swam on down as labour progressed. At 12.00 he was highish and at 2.34pm he was born. It didn't add any difficulty at all.

It's to be expected. Second and subsequent babies tend to pop in and out until labour and some don't engage at all until labour starts.

DD was fixed and fully engaged from 31 weeks. She was born at 39 weeks.

DS didn't engage at all. He was still free and high at my 36 week appointment, still free and high when my waters broke not long afterwards and after 38 hours of labour, erm, still free and high.

You can read nothing into it.
