We have been trying for a baby for the last four month, but unfortunately it has not yet happened. I have been following a ovulation app to tell me when it shoul occur but to no avail.
Has any body any other suggestions that I could use, I'm getting worried it may never happen ( I know it's only been four month).
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you x

You might not ovulate on the 14th day of your cycle which most apps assume. Could you try ovulation sticks?

lolablu Thu 17-Oct-13 16:47:58

sex. lots of it wink

Forget all the ovulation stuff and just have sex every other day. This should give you the best chance of the sperm being in the right place at the right time.

It took me 5 months to conceive my first and 9 months for my second. Despite my advice above, blithe time we only dtd once the month we conceived. I tracked my cm to find the best times.

do u use the ovulation sticks every day of the month or just around the 14th day. I have ordered some and a soliva microscope that shows when your about to ovulate.

This might sound odd but i was trying for over a year. I took advice and gave up all yeast from my diet and im now 6 weeks pregnant. Fingers crossed for you.

It took us 4 months! I know its nothing compared to some but I share your pain going through it all each month... when it happened for us I'd been working out more, given up a lot of booze & most caffeine, taken a mad combination of vitamins & supps to boost my progesterone & other levels, was more chilled than any other month we'd been ttc and had started acupuncture.
If you have the £ there are some amazing acupuncture "baby makers" on Harley Street- with results you just cant ignore...

Good luck- sure it will happen for you! x

Iv been trying 6 months and no luck yet! I'm sure it will happen soon. Try not to stress about it, easier said then done I know! 4 months really isn't that long. Just dtd every other day and try to enjoy it smile

It took us almost a year. It might have had nothing to do with our eventual success but we did the following:
- Did the Zita West detox and took extra vitamins (me, folic acid, multivits, Q10 and Omega 3 - DH took multivits and zinc) (DH did the detox three times! I only did it once) - this we did a few months before success, so it might not have made any difference except perhaps to DH's sperm quality as it takes three months to mature sperm
- Used fertility friend with a thermometer
- Tried to relax and have good sex with lots of orgasms rather than the dutiful stressful sex we had had in the early months
- Used 'Yes, Baby' (expensive, so glad it was only needed for one cycle) lube: you don't slap it on during the act, you just pop some inside each day.
But there is a lot that can go wrong, even if there's nothing wrong with fertility. It takes an average of eight months I hear (although this varies)

thank you all for your messages, we don't drink, I don't smoke but partner does I'm trying to cut him down lol. whats the best tablets to use to higher your progesterone levels?

pinkpeoniesplease Thu 17-Oct-13 17:11:39

We were trying for a few months and were then recommended Conceive Plus which is a lubricant. Got pregnant first month we used it and I know three others that's happened to!
Worth a try...

BurbGirl2013 Thu 17-Oct-13 17:12:54

Ah pinkpeonies forgot to mention Conceive Plus on my list too!! Second month did the trick of using it for us....

PuppyMummy Thu 17-Oct-13 17:17:40

I agree with everyone who says just have sex! I used opks for 2 cycles to get an idea of when I was ovulating but generally we just had sex every other day for most of the cycle. I have used pre-seed and concieve plus. neither caused me to get pregnant but were useful!

Prepare yourself for the long haul! you may be lucky but it took us a year and a half.

You may like to find a thread on the conception board as there are hoards of lovely ladies sharing tips/ideas and chat on ttc.

We were trying for four months then on the fifth I got pregnant! My cycles were irregular from coming off the pill so I got a cbfm from eBay for about 30 quid and it worked first time. If you can, I'd really recommend trying one.

louloubellamozzarella Thu 17-Oct-13 18:39:49

I took vol redundancy from my job, got another one, felt less stressed and had more sex. Stopped ovulation testing and just had sex as much as possible. Had been trying for 18 months (healthy, reg exercise, non smokers) - then bam! Good luck - and try to expect that it will take at least a year to take that monthly pressure off grin

Anothermrssmith Thu 17-Oct-13 18:48:30

Try ovulation tests, I was like you, using an app and nothing was happening (hubby works nights so had to make an effort to 'target' the days it said I was ovulating). It said I was ovulating on day 15,was actually day 11. Got pregnant first time using the clear blue ones now 26weeks

tryingtokeeppositive Thu 17-Oct-13 18:54:36

Temping, conceive plus, tracking cervical mucus and - more importantly for me, with pcos - agnus castus. I believe forgetting about it - even for a day - helps.

Smerlin Thu 17-Oct-13 18:59:17

Have sex all the time so whenever the egg is released there will always be viable sperm in your body (ie every 2-3 days)

If you only try to target the right day, you may end up missing it altogether.

amber381 Thu 17-Oct-13 19:32:32

Agnus castus. Both pregnancies we tried for a few months and nothing then started taking it and within a couple of months I was pregnant. Could be just a coincidence but worked for us!

I came off the pill last December after taking it for 10 years.

All year I had cycles around 34 days although every now and then I would have a 40+ day cycle. Longest one was 48!

Best thing that worked for me was clearblue digital OPKs. I got pregnant on my 4th cycle of using them.

Started to see a pattern which was that I was getting a positive OPK around day 19 so we started having sex around day 16-17 and would have sex as much as we could up until the positive (sometimes every day... Sometimes every other day).

Then when I got a positive we would have sex that day and every day for a few days after... Basically as per SMEP (google it) but just later in the month due to longer cycles.

The month I conceived we hardly had sex at all as my husband was working away and I was doing nightshifts!

Around the time of conception we only actually had sex twice. Once on day 18 and once on day 20 which was the day I got my positive OPK.

People telling me just to have lots of sex wasn't helpful for me because DH often works away and I'm a shift worker so it's not always easy for us to have lots of sex. Also, we kind of have low-ish sex drives... grin
Another issue was my longer cycles and sometimes unpredictable cycles... For the first few months of the year we were having sex at the wrong time and missing ovulation completely!

So, for me, OPKs were a god send! I also kept an eye on my CM. I would notice that the week leading up to a positive OPK I would get EWCM which would increase leading up to a positive OPK and then pretty much disappear completely.

So look puff of EWCM as well!

GillyBillyWilly Sat 19-Oct-13 11:12:52

Oh we used conceive plus sometimes as well smile

Two methods:
A) just have sex every other day throughout the cycle
B) the scientific approach. Get to know your body and pinpoint ovulation. To do this, I recommend using Fertility Friend (website or app, basic account is free) and monitoring your basal body temperature and CM. You can also use ovulation sticks for confirmation. There is a website - SME fertility I believe - where you can buy simple ovulation sticks (and early pregnancy tests!) cheaply, like 10 for £2 or so.
Good Luck!

princesscupcakemummyb Sat 19-Oct-13 21:32:27

ovulation clear-blue digital tests failed to pick up i was ovulating even know i tested daily after my cycle finished without fail hmm anyway what got me pregnant was sex every day but every 2 is fine and watching naturual body ovu signs now as a result im due in 2 weeks time grin

Newmumtobe2014 Sat 19-Oct-13 22:03:52

Hello, I tried for a year with no success a few years ago after coming off contraception, we decided to stop and I went back on the pill - this time we weren't planning on conceiving for another year but wanted to give my body a chance to go back to normal and fell pregnant within 3 weeks of coming off. I think its because there was no pressure to get pregnant, unlike last time when I thought about nothing else. just relax and have lots of Sex :-)
Good luck

Cheap ovulation tests from eBay, conceive plus and then the month we got bfp we followed the sperm meets egg plan. Google it. It's just about timing sex really but worked for us. Good luck
