When did you start buying baby things

Hi I'm 12 weeks next week and then a week on Tuesday I have my first scan.

Every body keeps asking me if I have bought any thing yet. And if I'm honest I'm a little scared to untill the scan. But even after first scan do you think its a bit to early to buy for baby.

When did you start buying?

Firstly, Congratulations :)

I bought one or two small things after my 20 week scan and then pram, cot, Moses Basket etc. at 36 weeks.

Thanks Hun

Oh that makes me feel so much better when people at work have asked me if I've bought out yet and I said I don't want to buy to early they look at me like I'm daft. Sounds silly but I want to save up then when I take my maternity leave go and buy lots and decorate nursery so while I'm off work I'm occupied and excited lol

I bought my pram at 18 only because it was in the sale. I have slowly been buying things. I am now 27 weeks and think I have nearly everything now x

I would begin researching what things you want go buy early even if you aren't going to buy until maternity leave. Because it takes ages as there are so many options!

Also sometimes things are out of stock or take some time to arrive etc, so be careful of that.

After my scan when I hit my 2nd trimester.

Didn't feel comfortable until then.

I've always left it at least until after the first scan as it's never really seemed 'real' until then. Didn't really tell many people until after the scan either. Usually pick up a few things if I see them in sale etc but leave the most of it until I hit start of last trimester.

Nothing until after at least the anomaly scan. Most stud in the third trimester.

I didn't even tell anyone at work until 20 weeks. Now 23 weeks and not bought a single thing. We're renovating the house so until we have a room to put things in I can't see the point! Will probably be very last minute!

I started around week 20 as we were waiting to see if we were having a boy or girl. No stopping the grand mums to be though who got knitting and buying as soon as they were told. My only tip is don't buy anything too big too soon or you'll have no where to store it. I'm 34 weeks now and getting a bit fed up of tripping up over parts of the travel system and bouncers etc!

im 12 weeks and havent bought anything yet. Want to wait to make sure everything is ok and to find out the sex. I expect I will get a lot of stuff for xmas but im not going to buy anything myself until after then (when i'll be 25 weeks)

I havent been able to stop myself researching loads though so I have a lot of ideas of what I want when I finally get started!

I'm also one of the ones waiting till after the anomaly scan. I didn't want to have to deal with anything if something isn't right. Hasn't stopped me looking, planning and saving though!!!

I waited until after my 20 week scan.

There's an NCT nearly new sale next weekend 2 days before our 20 week scan date and I feel hugely divided! On one hand, there's not another sale til March, which will be too late. On the other hand, I really want to find out everything's ok anatomy wise before buying anything.

I initially didn't want to buy anything til after the start of 3rd tri, but my husband points out it's probably better to spread the cost. I don't know.

I would do some research now cos it can take a while and sometimes prams have a long waiting list, also, my first DS was born early so if I'd not planned ahead it would have left us a bit unstuck!! I wasn't even on mat leave yet!

When I went on maternity leave at 36 weeks with dc1. Even then most of our stuff was second hand and arrived by post from my sil when I was 38 weeks. My dm was going spare by then, but really it wasn't her business.

With DC 2nd I sorted out baby clothes at 38weeks, and packed hospital bag at 39.

I bought a couple of vests after my 12 week scan and then we got more clothes/pram/hammock/monitor etc after the 20 week scan.

Changing table, cot and wardrobe we got at 32 weeks, have been stockpiling various sized nappies & wipes since about 22 weeks. Now at 35 weeks I'm pretty sure we have everything important until the second she arrives when I suspect we will discover we have bought absolutely nothing of use whatsoever....

I'm 10+5 and have bought a buggy, but only because it was too good to miss. And it's not allowed in the house! But I won't be buying anything else for a while xx

I'm 16 weeks with dc3 and I haven't bought anything yet. I've started thinking about it now but I won't buy stuff until after my next scan in 5 weeks time. I have been given a play mat and some sleeping bags by friends but I don't feel right actually going out and buying stuff yet.

I didn't buy anything until I found out the sex at a private scan at 16 weeks. Then I bought a few things every month, when the sales came round in June I went a bit mad buying stuff in the sales but reasoned this would save me money in the long run.
I didn't want to buy anything before the 12 week scan at least in case I jinxed things.

We bought a few vests and sleepsuits after our first scan at 11 weeks. Am now 13 weeks and haven't bought anything else but my mum has knitted a very cute little jumper for the baby and is working on a blanket.

I've got 2 weeks of annual level booked for around the time I have my 20 week scan so I will buy a few more bits then and also have a proper look at prams, etc. Won't go too crazy as I don't know how generous people will be with donating their old baby clothes and other things.

I started looking at things after my 12 week scan (you have no idea how many different prams they sell!) but we didn't actually buy anything until after the 20w scan. Pram and car seat were ordered at about 25 weeks and we picked it up last weekend (32w).

I think one of the first things we bought was the cot bed + mattress at 22 weeks or so but there was a really good sale on.

I am 25 weeks with my first and have just purchased a cot bed.
We wont be buying anything else until much later, but we have been loaned a lot of the things we need by my sister so no need to shop for a pram or moses basket and she has loaned us a lot of clothes too.
I still feel its too soon sometimes but would rather make a start so everything can be ready. My nephew arrived 5 weeks early so in the unlikely event of that happening to me there isnt long to stock up.
I have also heard that the last part goes v fast until you get to 35 weeks or so.
