Hello everyone, hoping you can help am 4-5 weeks and for the past few days have been having what feels like mild period pain coupled with back pain, kind of in the middle like a pulled muscle.
Is this normal, panicking a bit!
Thanks

Hiya

I'm about 5/6 weeks and the same, mild stomach pain that's a bit like cramps but not quite bad enough, not all the time. lower back aches easily but always has, so not sure about that.

Don't know if it's normal or not! But you're not alone Smile and hopefully someone more experienced will give us an answer!

I'm 4+2 and I'd really like to know the answer to this too! How are we supposed to know what's normal in first time pregnancy?! i had some mild cramping and back / hip pain from around 2 days before I found out until yesterday (so around 6 days in total). Have also had some hot flushes and dizziness, sore boobs and have been really tired. Today had more of a stitch like pain in lower abdomen just above pubic bone which comes and goes and have been panicking a bit. I'm really not sure how we are supposed to know what's normal and what we should be worried about! Congratulations on both of your pregnancies! Grin

It's normal, it's everything stretching and shifting around :) stitch pain is normal too, I'm 30+2 and I've been getting it the whole way through. It's muscle pain. I know it's hard but try not to worry :)

Thanks Daley! I have found the mild cramping quite reassuring in a way as it makes me think there is definitely something going on in there. Smile I guess there's quite a lot of new things to get used to!

God yeah, it's terrifying. I'm a first timer too and every new symptom scares me but then I come here and someone has already asked about it :) best of luck, congrats Flowers

Thank you both of you feels like the first time I have breathed out all day lol. ShesSoMean I think I am at 4 + 2 too although nothing makes sense date-wise at the minute! It is so nice to hear that you have been through it DaleyBump and is all okay, don't really want to wish my life away for the next 8 weeks :)

just wanted to say (from what i remember it was 10+ yrs ago) that i had the same. it was stretching and things happening. sort of comforting but i understand you would feel worried. i thought i was going to get my period. xx

It really is so common :) I even had bleeding at 6 weeks and everything turned out fine :) also, never, ever, google. I worked myself up so much with pointless googling, poor DP would come home and I would be in floods of tears and snotters telling him that everything had gone wrong because google said so. It was total rubbish and everything is fine. Again, best of luck to both of you Flowers

Thanks again! Terrifying is definitely the right word to describe this!! Your replies are really reassuring - it's so good to know that we are not alone in these feelings, both physical and mental!! Smile

Magpie - date buddies!! How come the dates are confusing? I've just gone off the date of my last period. (Sorry I don't mean to sound patronising, I'm genuinely interested in case I'm wrong / confused with my dates too!!)

As you can see I'm wide awake in the middle of the night... Confused This is happening a lot now. Can't work out if it's preg related or not. It certainly isn't helping the tiredness though!

I had lots of period type pains with both pregnancies. Easier said than done, but try & relax-there are lots of... sleepless nights to come! I found a meditation aimed at pregnant women really helped & used to get me off to sleep. I even listened to it in labour! Obviously any relaxation exercises will help but I downloaded mine from Mindful Mama. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy :)

Pregnancy insomnia - right there with you! Wink

Haha! No one tells you about pregnancy insomnia! I've had some pretty serious stress related insomnia in the past but have been over that for quite a while now. I have become used to coping with very little sleep, but I haven't had to do it whilst my body is working overtime trying to grow a person! I will definitely try some meditation though, thanks for the tip! Smile

Morning dates are confusing as was on the pill and last bleed was 17th August but we only could have possible got pregnant on 7th September .....unless immaculate conception lol. Was taking antibiotics so that's why they think this has happened but have been told for pastv10-15 years that I would likely have problems conceiving, so a bit of a miracle! Was also awake at just after 4, mainly cause my cat decided to sleep on my head though!!

Oh I see, sorry I should have thought about that. I guess your scan will help with dates.

My cats are strict downstairs night dwellers due to their tendency to sleep on my head / think night time is for playing! Hmm

On a serious note though thank you for starting this thread, I was about to start one myself and I feel much happier now that I've had some reassurance! Smile

Be careful with medication, if I remember correctly there's nothing you can take for insomnia while you're pregnant :(

Report
ShesSoMean · 24/09/2013 13:01

Thanks Daley, I don't intend to take anything medicinal for insomnia. I have in the past tried many many things for insomnia which I think can become a bit addictive (and they don't really work anyway) so I don't ever want to take sleeping pills again, especially not whilst pregnant.

Quick update pain got much worse last night and this morning and was sent to the EPU. They have done blood tests and hcg of 383 progesterone 52. Waiting until levels hit 1000 then they will scan me. Really hoping that everything is ok.

Hi Magpie we seem to be in a similar situation. I've had pains and have been on and off to EPAU since Monday 16th sept. had a scan last week and no pregnancy was visible, had another scan today and there was a sac but no yolk or heart beat, however that could mean I'm not 6+3 but more like 5+3 which could be quie possible.
However my HCG levels are not doubling as they need to be (had 4 sets of blood tested) and they were at 690 on 16/9 and today 9 days later a only 3000 when they should be more like 11,000 if they had doubled.
I hope all goes well with you and your HCG is doing what it needs t be, however the point of me telling you all this is that even if it isn't doubling the guys looking after me still seem relatively positive that the pregnancy may continue, however they are keeping an eye on me just in case. I'm back next week for another scan and more bloods.
Best of luck with your scan, hopefully you'll be 1000 in a couple of days if your HCG is OK!
Sam x
