Think I can feel SPD coming on

It's a bit better today and I just saw the osteo who thinks it may be caused by my back (long term back issues) and going on the exercise bike rather than true SPD, so fingers crossed it just gets better as I know some people really suffer with it. Hope yours goes too smile

Have got it this time and is tricky with a toddler to run around after. Moving in bed is a bitch and DH keeps jumping up asking if the baby is coming as I keep making pain noises. Am trying to walk as little as poss and sit on ball rather than sofa. Hope it goes asap.

If anything hurts don't do it, knees together and don't stand on 1 leg so sit down to get dressed.

No idea how I'm going to cope this pregnancy with a toddler as well only 7 weeks and yesterday slipped slightly with 1 foot cos of the rain and the pain through my pelvis as horrible. I was signed off work for 3 months at end of last pregnancy as sitting for more half an hour was unbearable.

Other thought - if you go swimming, arms only. No breaststroke. Ever!

I had it badly first time - wheelchair and bed bound for last six weeks. This time, symptoms started at six weeks. :-(
Dislocated my pelvis the other week by lying on my side in the recovery position on a picnic blanket, so don't do that! (Especially not when abroad).
Uneven ground (fields, cobbles, cambers in roads etc) aggravate it.
And one step at a time on stairs.
No biking!!! That has to be bad!
Take lifts where possible too.
No straddling.
No heavy lifting and no shopping trolleys or pushchairs if poss.
Can't stop it, but can help it. My osteopath is ace. Wish I knew about her first time around,
Poor you. Hope it doesn't get too bad. Oh, and learn to knit in case you can't nest! grin

Hi, if it is SPD then the best thing you can do is as little physical exercise as possible as any oppositional movement (walking, going up stairs, cycling) puts strain on the pubic joint which can move in pregnancy, but would not normally. Also, this sounds odd, but keep your knees together, for example, swing both legs round when getting out of a car.

If it's SPD prevention is your only option, although physio does help. Good luck and do push for a referral!

I've got a MW appt on Weds so will see if they can refer me. Went to the GP but she asked me to see if the MW can refer (apparently the form to fill out is really tricky!) if not she will do it.

Try and get referred to a physio with experience of SPD. They will be able to check if it is SPD and help treat it if it is.
Not had it luckily but my friend ended up on crutches in her last pregnancy from it.

Bump - eg: should I carry on as normal, try and lie down, go for a walk, do a certain exercise? I have a feeling it was brought on by using an exercise bike, its discomfort rather than pain atm, just feeling kinda bruised/strained across the front of the pubic region .. (Damn it!)
