Best places to buy tiny baby clothes for premature baby?

Wasn't quite sure where to post this but a friend has just had a baby at 30 weeks (he was 4lb something so a good weight, considering) and I was wondering where I should look for a gift, I was thinking of some baby clothes but they would need to be in tiny baby size and not sure which high street / online retailers do anything smaller than newborn size?

I go tiny baby clothes for DS from quite a lot of places, mothercare, Tesco, asda amongst others, if baby is in an incubator they might not need clothes just yet, hope baby goes from strength to strength, maybe take your friend something nice too? I remember being apart from DS, it was the worst few days of my life,

mothercare and next do a tiny baby size they are sized by weight so much easier to get something to fit. hth

Asda are fab for prem stuff - I wouldn't get too much though - we mainly used the hospital clothes whilst he was in then donated ones we'd bought back to the unit once he'd outgrown them.

I agree - being away is massively hard. Has she sent you any pics of her baby? Could you print one or 2 out for her? She's probably not had time - all I had was one a nurse had taken and one on DP's phone. I used to look at them and cry like a baby when I got home after visiting DS. Maybe a smallish one for her purse and 1 in a frame?

DS was under loads of blankets at first too (as were most babies and I liked to take our own in. Ones with the holes (they have a name but can't remember it) are best :)

Boots do tiny baby - if you're in the pregnancy club advantage card they're doing a £5 off a £15 spend on clothes and 3 for 2 at the mo!

We got things from here for our very tiny (1lb 4oz and 1lb 2oz) premature twin girls. It was lovely quality and quick delivery.

We got ours bought for us from asda and mothercare (SILs went nuts). While DS was in Scbu for 3 weeks staff put him in their own vests and clothes as they found it easier to change and wash them rather than trying to keep different babies clothes separate, so we didn't need any until he came home (he was 4lb5 too).

Another vote for Mothercare. All their stuff comes in 'tiny baby' size which was a godsend (DS came home weighing 1.7kg!) and so fantastic to be able to buy babygros in jolly bright colours and patterns after the hospital diet of pale blue (or pink, if I was feeling mischievous and wanted to make the nurses go over all faint).

Mothercare do some stuff in an early baby size up to about 5lb and next size up is Tiny baby up to 7.5lb.

Ds wasn't prem but was small (6lb3 down to 5lb15) and my mum got some lovely stuff in both Tiny and Early sizes on the way to the hospital from Sainsburys. Clever me bought only newborn/up to 1 month and 0-3

If you can find - or have someone knit/crochet - hats, that might be useful, ready for when he comes home? Also cardigans, if you find a friendly knitter. Or try folksy.com :)

My nephew was 3lbs at 34 weeks and the only High St premium clothes that fitted him were from Tesco. He had three of the same outfit bless him.

We also used baby prem, Mothercare are nice too.
My dts were 30 weekers and I thought they were good weights at 3lb. 4lb is a really good weight, hope they're all doing well.

Thanks so much ladies, he was 4lbs 3oz, I hadn't appreciated what an excellent weight that clearly is (born at 30+w2) - apparently he is progressing well so fingers are tightly crossed. Will hit Mothercare tomorrow. Thanks again.

Take a look at this charity, they send out one outfit free to prem babies. www.popngrow.moonfruit.com/home/4562997169 I think you can nominate on her behalf, it's sent to the hospital. I had a 3lb 15oz baby at 32 weeks and they don't go straight into clothes so there's still time to get some items for her. I really appreciated tiny clothes. Most places have early baby or tiny baby ranges now. I wish her and baby well.

I'd second Tesco and Asda for tiny baby sized clothes. They fitted my 4 pound 5 ounces DD very well when she was born.
