Hi
I am 8 weeks pregnant and yesterday I had slight blood when I wiped I phoned EPU they said to keep an eye on it and if it gets worse to go to A&E this morning I was bleeding more I have had no pain just period like aches what I get when I am due on and I should be due on. The nurse at A&E said everything is fine they did another pregnancy test It showed I am still pregnant they sent me home and told me to go back if the bleeding got any worse about an hour an half later the bleeding was worse and was in my knickers this time so I went back down and they didn't examine me this time they looked at the blood and said to me to go home as there is nothing they can do they wouldn't even do a scan so I am now at home on rest I went to the toilet I am still bleeding and a small clot come away I have still had no pains or cramps just the feeling like I'm on my period I am scared I am miscarrying can any one help please xx

Hi Chan - I am so so sorry you are going through this, I know how scary it is as I had bleeding at the same stage with DS.

Unfortunately at this stage it is a bit of a waiting game. It could be that you are miscarrying or it could be old implantation bleeding. Did they say why they wouldn't do a scan?

They said they cannot do a scan because it's out of hours and will only do it if my life is in danger it's an horrible waiting game xx

I know how you are feeling - I have been through the same scenario with different results . I have bled and miscarried 3 times and bled and not miscarried twice - so there is hope for you. I would ring and ask when you can have a scan x

You poor thing - have you anyone with you at the moment in RL? I'm surprised that they wouldn't give you a scan (but things might have changed since my day - I'm an old gimmer). I'd say that if you keep bleeding over the weekend then go back on Monday to the EPU and they should give you a scan. (Can anyone else back me up on this?).

In the mean-time look after yourself, try and get some rest and try not to panic. Easy said I know. Sending you un-mumsnetty hugs.

Yep, in my experience, EPUs are only open in the mornings on weekdays.. obviously some places might be different but I've always been told to wait until then unless I'm possibly dying Hmm

The painless is reassuring. It could well be a subchorionic haemmorhage (I so cannot spell that..) which is a small blood blister-like thing caused when the baby implanted that eventually has to bleed out.

You might be able to find a place tomorrow that does private scans? You'll have to pay, but it is up to you if finding out a day sooner justifies the cost.

Good luck!

I suppose the reasoning is that a scan will not change the outcome or the advice ,which is wait and see what happens . Good luck ,I had a massive bleed at 12 weeks with my first and still had a successful pregnancy .

Sending prayers and positive thoughts. I had bleeding at 10 weeks and dd is a healthy 10-yr-old now so (easier said than done I know) try not to worry. Waiting until Mon pm is hard when you are on your own so post again if you feel anxious xxx

Hi Chan, I'm 8 weeks today. On Thursday I noticed some brown blood on wiping and also a few flecks in my underwear. I was having cramping pains along with it so I was really panicked. I left work and went straight to my GP who arranged for me to have a scan the next day, i.e yesterday. Me and hubby were so nervous but thankfully the scan showed a healthy yolk sac and foetus with a strong heartbeat. I still had some bleeding last night but nothing today. The midwife I saw said that sometimes these things just happen.

The best of luck with your scan x x

Update. I'm still bleeding only seems to be when I'm sat up or stood up seems to stop when I'm layed down but my breast are no longer tender or sore does this mean I have miscarried xx

Hi chan, sorry to hear about your bleeding, at this stage its still a waiting game, without a scan it's impossible to know what has happened, lots of women do experience some bleeding in pregnancy and go on to have a healthy baby, and I hope this is what happpens with you, sorry that you are going through this worry alone, could a friend come over to stay with you?
oven xx

So sorry you're on your own and going through this, without a scan it's impossible to say either way.

I had a massive bleed at about 7 weeks, passing clots the size of my palm, no symptoms, and the result is fast asleep in the next room. I don't want to give false hope, but wanted to add my story to show it isn't always bad news.

Do you have company today? Or rent lots of films to distract you? X

Resting sounds like the best plan - it was what my GP ordered me to do when my bleeding started. Best of luck with your scan x x
