I dont recall this being a huge issue when I had DS1 (age 12) or DS2 (age 10). Really struggling to tidy up my nether regions and currently housing something that looks like a dead cat.

In the grand scheme of things in life I don't suppose this is a life or death situation, but really don't fancy going in to give birth in the state I am at the moment.

Get it waxed or get DH to shave it? I went for a wax but only a tidy up, not my usual Brazilian as the idea of stubble and stitches freaked me out for giving birth grin

I got DH to tidy mine. Not my favourite moment. DC is going to have a terrible time. He's going to emerge into the world like those kids entering narnia through a load of old fur coats.

I'm going to wax next time.

I just couldn't/wouldn't get dh to do mine!! I just literally slapped on veet cream and all was good lol

People wax to give birth?shock who are you doing it f
for, the doctors? Even if you have a section you don't need to shave anything except a minute amount at the top of the bikini line. Give yourself a break and leave it alonegrin

"He's going to emerge into the world like those kids entering narnia through a load of old fur coats"

Haha I know how u feel, I don't exactly usually have a brazilian or anything but I like to keep trim. I'm only 28 weeks but I'm struggling, I wouldn't really be that bothered but as well as my hubby, my best friend and lovely 'auntie' to my son and bump is my second birthing partner this time around and I just keep saying to her as long as u understand I don't usually look such a state down yonder lol she says she doesn't plan on looking at I'm sure she will when the moment comes. I don't really have any advice to be honest as I'm in the same position

Use a mirror or just feel with your fingers where you need to shave?!

I always start clearing up a week before I'm due and just feel around and do it over a couple of days.

I don't do it for the doctors, I do it for myself because I would hate the feeling of the heavy flow of blood and sweat in my pubic hair straight after childbirth and the weeks that follow.

LindsayS79 Wed 07-Aug-13 22:45:46

Hair removal cream and a mirror!!! Although goodness knows what state it was actually in as I'm sure I overdone it in parts due to struggling to see!! I prob had uneven bald patches where I didn't mean to. hopefully it helped the doc do her stitches LOL!

"He's going to emerge into the world like those kids entering narnia through a load of old fur coats"

Best description ever.

I didn't have a problem first pregnancy. Haven't been able o see or reach for ages this time. I abandoned my landing strip and just went in blind and took it all off. I'm sure it looks terrible and I miss patches, but what I don't know can't hurt.

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHopeful Wed 07-Aug-13 23:07:28

Fakebook is so right about the blood and sweat after giving birth.

I was two weeks early with dd so didn't get chance to tidy things up before birth. Having your neither regions bathed in blood and encased in an enormous sanitary towel for 4 weeks is just repulsive when you add pubic hair into the mix .

Newmum0113 Wed 07-Aug-13 23:07:56

I personally like to keep tidy downstairs too, usually a Brazilian if I've got the money, a Gillette if I haven't smile

I haven't been able to do either since having surgery a couple of months ago - waxing obviously would pull open the wound, and I can't put too much pressure to pull up and look so I can't shave either IYSWIM.

DH did shave a bit at the top for me when he was changing my dressings after surgery but I was a bit blush as I'm usually neat! Couldn't get him to do the full Hagrid, as another poster called it!

It isn't about the doctors seeing for me as such, I just find it more comfortable to be clean and fresh. I imagine childbirth is pretty hot work - need all the help I can get to stay cool!

Or just accept that adult women have pubic hair and stop being silly about it !

valiumredhead Wed 07-Aug-13 23:28:18

Think I prefer hair to stubbly itchy regrowth!

BunInMyOven93 Wed 07-Aug-13 23:29:55

curlew i think its a case of each to their own smile

DaleyBump Wed 07-Aug-13 23:36:09

Nobody is being silly curlew. Maybe you have to accept that what you're comfortable with is different to what others are comfortable with. The OP didn't ask how to accept her full bush, she asked how to get rid of it so your comment is not only un helpful but silly in itself.

Hagrid's beard grin 23+4 and have lost all sight of my privates, so right now I'm running wild but DP has promised to help me out soon smile

HaroldLloyd Wed 07-Aug-13 23:38:59

I had a few hacks at mine with a razor it probably looked like a badger that had been run over.

Fakebook Wed 07-Aug-13 23:39:50

If you exfoliate every day in the shower with exfoliating gloves (best things ever created) then you don't get itchy stubbly regrowth and it leaves your body feeling nice and smooth too smile.

BunInMyOven93 Wed 07-Aug-13 23:48:13

fakebook exfoliate everyday? Even're a bit bushy? May try! (never thought id be chatting online about my pu-wabs!!)

SeriousStuff Thu 08-Aug-13 00:30:20

I went at mine with scissors tonight for the first time in about 5 months...couldn't see a thing and had to guide the scissors with the other hand. It feels much tidier but I'm sure it's pretty patchy!

SupermansBigRedPants Thu 08-Aug-13 01:02:24

I'm 39+ 3 and have to do some wild gymnastics to get to mine blush I'm ginormous and unfit at the best of times never mind now, I found hair at the top of my legs the other day I must have been missing it for months shock had to 'lift' my bump to see it!

I find lying down and feeling my way around is best ;) df refuses to do it in case he cuts me <terrifying>
