Cravings and foods you've gone off since pregnancy

So...I was curious if anyone else has had to stop eating/drinking something since being pregnant.

I have gone off coffee - normally drink 5-7 cups a day. Now only one or two a week!

First trimester saw mean avoiding bacon like the plague. DH is cooking for the guests (we run a b&b) and I'm dying for a bacon sarnie. Hopefully I can eat it now he's made it specially for me!

Cravings:

Fresh orange juice - not from concentrate!
Walkers prawn cocktail crisps
And the newest addition is mint choc chip ice creams like cornetto or feast.

Anyone else?

Prior to pregnancy I was the world's biggest chocholic, couldn't walk past the chocoloate shelf in the newsagent without indulging. Now I have completely lost my sweet tooth, tried a bit of choc the other day and could barely taste it. On the other hand, Hula Hoops and McCoys crisps have suddenly started tasting DEVINE!

I have basically gone off everything. Except crisps and sour sweets. I'm starving, but everything makes me want to be sick. Oddly I really fancy some sashimi or sushi, one of the few things I can't have!

Oh dear! :-(

I can't stand seafood or sushi at the best of times!

And luckily (or unluckily depending on how you look at it) my choccy sense has not dissipated in the slightest! Mmmm cadburys giant milk choc buttons!!!

@luxem you could have have some vegetable/tuna/smoked salmon sushi, like the types you get near the ready-made sandwiches in supermarkets or boots :)

My last pregnancy i went off salad and tea (normally have 3-5 cups a day) and so far this pregnancy has been the same.

Craving sweet stuff (but not chocolate) and i cant get enough fruit.

I've gone off most things. Definitely coffee, also anything spicy or garlicky, red meat and chocolate :(

I've also gone off some non edible things like my normal shower gel, perfume, DHs deodorant, anything with a strong smell that makes me retch :(

I'm living off cheese and tomato sandwiches at the moment!

I'm eating lots and lots of cheese Grin

I went off tea for quite a few weeks early on, but that has passed now.

And I'm sure you can have sushi - I think it just has to be frozen first?

I don't have any cravings but I have completely gone off soup- any flavour. I was quite the fan before. Also gone off pasta, no matter what sauce and veg, meat etc i put with it, it still tastes plain Hmm

i've gone off tea completely which was bad timing as my OH had spent ages sourcing Twinings decaf tea bags! also gone off cheese a right bit. not liking plain meat at all - has to be spiced or bbq'd etc

i've started liking cereal and i wouldnt have touched that before. also developed a love for apples and i cant even remember when i last ate one before getting pregnant!

Oh dear effy I'd hate to go off pasta! My DH makes a terrific homemade pesto!

fairy I have actually taken up more fruit since being PG too. I remember the last time I had an apple too - 10 years ago on the day I had my braces taken off! Haha. I feel so old :-(

As for the bacon sarnie this morning, despite it smelling fantastic and me wanting to eat it, I couldn't stomach it and it made me feel sick Sad

Oh well, never mind eh!? Smile

I have been loving ready salted crisps, boiled eggs (shame it can't be a runny yolk), cheddar cheese, fish like tuna, haddock or cod.

Gone off red meat a bit and I usually love a good beef burger! Also the thought of a Caesar salad makes me feel very ill Hmm

You can have runny eggs Charlotte.

Any egg with the lion stamp is fine runny Smile

Same, Looby- never bothered with cakes/choc/ sweets etc in my life till now. Scoffed 3 cream buns from Cooplands last week, and am wolfing bars of chocolate every single day .

Weirdly, my usual cheese fetish has dwindled and now blocks of cheese sit in my fridge for weeks, whereas pre-pregnancy, I'd easily get through up to two blocks a week!

Completely went off all meat in the first trimester, too (24+3 now).

It's all veeeerrrry strange! :)

I am 16+4 and had what I would call my first proper craving today, corned beef and peanut butter sandwiches. Yes in one sandwich. Sounds gross but god it was sooooooooooooooooooooo yummy!

From about 10 weeks I've had the odd need for a glass, or three, of milk - generally about 1 in the morning!

Oh and I had gone off meat unless it was in a pasta or something but went to a BBQ the a couple of weekends ago and just scoffed loads! Rather embarrassing but I couldn't help it. Didn't bother with buns or anything just had a shed load of meat! Even pork belly with I really do not like normally.

I've gone off most foods tbh, has been awful... The only things I can stomach are stodgy and not very healthy - bread, cheese, crisps, ice cream etc.
Used to be very healthy and always cooked from scratch, lots of green veg etc.
Can't stand the smell or taste of most veg and fruit!

I went off tea completely. Went from a heavy tea drinker to drinking nothing for months because it knocked me sick.

Cravings:
Ice cold water
Bagels
Chocolate fudge cake

I have completely gone off coffee (as I did in my previous pregnancies too, so I expected that), mashed potatoes, gravy and broccoli Hmm all stuff which I love.

My diet currently consists of crackers, strawberries, nuts, peas, ice cream and grilled cherry tomatoes in white bread with loads of tomato ketchup. I'm telling you, it's the food of the gods!

Newmum0113 · 18/06/2013 18:13

Oh I'm craving mashed potatoes badly too!!!

I have been suggesting we have mash for a few days and I nearly cried earlier when DH said there was pizza in the fridge which has to be eaten today before it goes out of date.

I just want a juicy medium rare sirloin with -scorched- fried onions and rustic mash. Why oh why do I want to eat that every night for the rest of my life?!?

Also loving ice cold milk, but hard to get it that way for some reason. May actually have to freeze some as ice cubes to put in my glass...?

I have gone off all green vegetables, especially salad veg. Previously I ate tons of veg, a lot more than I ate meat. I most enjoy plain, simple food and quite like salty things. However, I have had a minging taste in my mouth almost permanently, and the only thing that shifts it is a fresh green apple - I know, a total contradiction!!!

I've gone off anything cake-y (can't eat much anyway as am gluten free), olives, veg etc. pre pg I was drinking green smoothies and eating loads of veg, now it's all about the carbs - mostly toast (gf) and marmite, and marmite crisps. It's all that stops the sick feeling. Green apples too, I've averaged about a bag a day for the last few days! Only 7 weeks, and am not looking forward to a few more weeks of this gagging and sickness. Sad
