Pregnancy

I just need somebody to tell me...

Hi everyone.

I found out last week that i'm 5-6 weeks pregnant.
I'm naturally a bit of a worrier, and this baby is so wanted that i'm stressing myself out over every little thing.

I've been getting some cramping, and a pinching pain on the bottom left of my tummy...is this normal?

Also, I've woken up today with really bad back ache. It's at the top of my back and googling this has led me to sites about ectopic pregnancy. I have no other symptoms that even suggest this, but i'm hoping some of you ladies can put my mind at rest and tell me that back ache, even up the top, is normal?

Thanks so much,

Emma xx

Hi Emma,

I wouldnt worry at all - what you are describing is exactly what I had at about the same sort of time... cramping (i thought it was my period coming), backache and pinching pain on one side of my stomach.

Dont google - it will only make you more anxious. I wanted to make sure that it was all okay before I went on holiday at 10 weeks so had an early scan privately to make sure baby was in correct place etc...and would def advise if you have any spare money to get this to put your mind at rest... it was the only thing that made me feel better.

Good luck and please try not to worry!

I had lots of cramping and pinching at your sort of stage - also felt as though I'd just done 100 sit ups the way my stomach muscles were aching. Am 32 weeks on Saturday. Can't really comment on the upper back pain - mine's just been hurting all over!

All sounds like normal pg symptoms to me - congratulations!

Ffs! NEVER google symptoms or you will develop acute hypochondria and scare yourself silly!

What you have described is normal for many people. If the pain continues and gets steadily worse then maybe start to think about checking with midwife.

Most likely it's fine Smile

Oh god, don't google! Never google! What you've described sounds just like what I had. Congratulations, try to relax and enjoy it :) (I know, I hated when people told me to enjoy it but still). Best of luck!
