I have had some brownish discharge when I wipe this morning sad (tmi sorry). I was 7 weeks yesterday. I have a horrible sinking feeling that this is it sad

HystericalParoxysm Sun 09-Jun-13 09:03:37

Try not to worry. It can be completely normal. <holds hand>

pod3030 Sun 09-Jun-13 09:03:42

don't lose hope. I had the same at around the same time, i had a reassurance scan and all was well. Hand to hold here xxx

This could just be the implantation bleed, where the egg gets itself settled into the lining of the womb. I had the same with really bad cramping pains so we got a private scan and all was ok.

Do you know who your midwife is yet? You can always contact her about this if you're still worried.

Hope this helps flowers

Thank you all so much. I can't stop crying. My ds keeps looking at me like I'm loosing my marbles.

I do know who my midwife is. I'm going to give her a call tomorrow.

This is how it started last time. But I was only about 4 weeks then..

I had this with dd, she is now jumping all over me so keep your hopes up its implantation!

Here to handhold as well. I am one day ahead of you, following IVF. I have had brown spotting on and off since last Tuesday, with a little red. I already had a viability scan scheduled at the ivf clinic on Thursday (after the red spotting), and as at Thursday the little bean was in there and hanging on. They could find no reason for the bleeding. Thankfully my spotting seems to have gone away for now. I am still going a bit obsessively mental with worrying what it means, despite trying to distract my mind with gardening and tidying. But like pod and hysterical say, spotting is pretty common and doesn't always end in bad news so we have to stay hopeful. Not easy though, is it?

Can you ask your GP on Monday for a referral to the EPU? They may not be able to see you if it is "only" a day or two of spotting. If EPU won't scan you, a private reassurance scan sounds a good idea.

I too had a chemical pregnancy loss before 5 weeks a few months ago and it was the same for me, starting with brown spotting, so I fully get the fear. Fingers crossed for both of us this time.

I'm hopeful for you all that everything is ok. Please keep us updated. We are here for you no matter what.

Have a brew to try to calm your nerves. ((Hugs))

Have a hand hold!

I had bleeding like this in my 3rd and 4th PGs. One time was bad news, the other is now 9. I know how worrying it can be, but it's not necessarily all going wrong.

Hi LST - handholding here thanks. I have brown bleeding/discharge at just over 6 weeks, was on hols and eventually went to docs and got a scan but all was fine. I was told it was old blood being "pushed" out by the growing uterus/fetus etc. sometimes you can have something called a subchrionic haematoma (sp?!) which can cause bleeding too, and isn't necessarily harmful to baby. Not all bleeding means miscarriage, although obvs some does. Try not to worry and keep and eye on it - if it gets bright red, more of it and cramps, call your doc/out of hours and see if you can get seen. X

AuntieStella Sun 09-Jun-13 10:04:19

Actually, with mine they suspected it was a twin conception, and the brown blood was shedding one (they saw some "junk"). As long as there is one heartbeat in the uterus (not tube) then your chances of successful outcome rocket up.

More hand holding here too. flowers

I'm in a similar situation. I'm on my second pregnancy and spotting for over a week now. I lost my first baby after weeks of bleeding. We can only cling onto hope and pray for our little ones. [hugs]

monikar Sun 09-Jun-13 10:09:22

I'll hold your hand too.

I had this at 6 weeks and again at 10 weeks. Each time was for a few days. I was worried sick. The doctor told me it was due to hormones. He said it could happen again but it didn't. DD is now 17.

The most likely outcome is that it will be ok even though it is very worrying. Many women have bleeding in early pregnancy and for the vast majority, go on to have a healthy baby. The most likely outcome of this is that your pregnancy will progress as normal, so try to hold on to that thought.

Hope that helps a little.

Hi there. I had brown discharge about 7 weeks in and it was just old blood. Try not and panic tho I know that's really hard x

Tinkerbellefairy Sun 09-Jun-13 10:59:51

Holding your hand very tightly! I am in similar position to you and it is so scary. I only found out I am pregnant this week but unsure when I conceived so I am either 10weeks or 6weeks. This is due to last month also having brown discharge which I have never had before. It was when Af was due and lasted 5days so I assumed I hadn't conceived and was just a strange period. I also took a pg test straight after which was bfn but may have just tested too early. This month continued ttc and tested positive and according to digi am 3+weeks which came up strongly within 10secs. Midwife thinks i could actually be 10weeks and was concerned about the brown bleed so has referred me to epu next tues for scan to check all is ok and to date me properly. I completely feel for you as so frightened about Tuesday but lots of women have mentioned they had similar during their early pregnancies so I guess we need to just hang on to that hope. Try to push for a referral to epu as it would drive me crazy having to wait till 12week scan to check that all is ok. Here to chat if needed x

MotheringShites Sun 09-Jun-13 11:05:16

I had the brownish stuff followed by proper red blood. Was terrified. DS2 was fine though and is now a beautiful 2 year old. Rest and try to relax, maybe use some breathing techniques to calm yourself.

cazboldy Sun 09-Jun-13 11:13:40

I had this at exactly 8 weeks with this pg (am now 22+6 smile) freaked me out, as hadn't had this with any of my others (this is my 6th baby)

I rang my mw, and she said it is very common, if no pain and brown blood, then no cause for concern smile

Hope all goes well for you xx

I am sorry for not getting back sooner. I'm still 'bleeding' but feel calmer. I have just had a picnic in the garden with Ds. I need to keep strong for him even if the worst happens

I am feeling hopeful reading some of your stories. I just wish I could fast forward a week or two to see what the outcome will be sad

PumpkinPie2013 Sun 09-Jun-13 13:06:04

Hand holding from me too!

I won't say don't worry because we all do but don't loose hope just yet!

I had brown discharge at what I thought was 4-5 weeks
so mw said nothing to worry about (I still worried). All was perfect at 12 week scan and I was a week ahead so discharge was actually around 6 weeks.

Had a bit more when wiping after 12 week scan but mw heard baby's hb really easily with a doppler at 14 and 15 weeks so all is good.

I'm nearly 16 weeks now and getting a bump!

Try to stay positive for now. The picnic with your son sounds lovely xx

flamingtoaster Sun 09-Jun-13 13:08:10

Glad you are feeling calmer. I had a lot of brown bleeding around 7 weeks when pregnant with my DS. It went on for ages and was quite heavy at times but he was absolutely fine. <holds hand gently>

LST Sun 09-Jun-13 19:23:09

I've just had a bath and I'm now having a little relax. I feel like rolling up in a ball and crying. I feel pathetic.

I just hope it stops more than anything in the world. But then I look at my ds and wonder why I'm this upset when I have already got the most perfect baby boy.sad

This baby is so wanted. I don't think I can do this and try again.

I'm sorry for waffling xx

LST Sun 09-Jun-13 19:24:19

And thank you all so much. And for you all going though this too I am thinking about you with my fingers crossed x
