Pregnancy

When did you get your BFP? Bit confused.....

Hello. My period was due last Wednesday and still hasn't arrived but keep getting negative pregnancy tests. I have a 23 day cycle normally so it is now 29 days since my last period. I had a mc earlier in the year but have had 2 periods since then. I am hating this uncertainty and just want a sign one way or the other. I'm also worried there is something sinister behind it. Thanks.

I took a test about two weeks after my period was due and got a BFP. Try one of the Clear Blue ones, they're supposed to be really sensitive.

I got my BFP 3 days before period was due, but I have a longer cycle. I would test again in a few days but it may well still be your hormones settling back down after your mc. Sorry to hear you went through that.

My periods were not regular after mc, had a couple of 28 then up to 54 so can take a while to get normal again. Now preg again (5w) and got bfp about 4 days before period was due.

I got a really late BFP. I was also about 2 cycles after my MC... Had symptoms and was convinced I was pregnant for nearly 2 weeks before I finally got the BFP... MW thought I must have ov'ed later than expected, but on scanning, I'm on track with my dates, so just took longer for homones to get through I guess!

I got mine 3 days after period was due. I had tested on previous days with a cheap Tesco test (twice!) and it was negative. finally did the double one with the ClearBlue test.

Thanks for the replies. Maybe I should invest in a more expensive test. Would like to know by next week as I have a wedding to go to! I am slightly nervous if it is positive as it will be a nerve wracking wait until the 12 week scan so in some ways don't mind either way.

I also tested positive on the first day of my missed period with DS and the mc so was expecting to see a positive result by now if I was.

If you're near a superdrug, try their own brand simple pink line tests. Lots of people on here recommended it I compared the paperwork with the clear blue paperwork, and the superdrug ones are more sensitive. It picked up my BfP four days before my period was due

I got mine 12 days after egg collection for IVF (equivalent of ovulation in a normal cycle).

I tested when I was a week late as I didn't want to go thru the emotional rollercoaster of a negative.
Also from lots of reading on MN I got the impression that supermarket cheapies are better/more sensitive than the expensive tests.
Good luck... Hope it's just your hormones playing tricks and that you are pg...

OP are you using the cheapo ebay tests? If so, look really really carefully, there may be the faintest of lines. Tbh i didn't get a proper line with them until i was about 6 weeks pg....

So far I have used eBay cheapies, Tesco standard and Boots standard! I also bought a Lloyds sensitive one by mistake. Possibly this is TMI but somehow it didn't work. The leaflet said to only hold it in the stream for 5s which made it damp but it didn't run. I was a bit frustrated so I wet it with water briefly and it did run and came up positive! This was yesterday but I got a Boots negative today. I don't think the positive was very reliable - will try again first thing tomorrow....

One tip I learnt from here - check the in-stream end of the test, as sometimes there is a clear shiny plastic lining on one side of the spongey bit - try to use it with the spongey side facing up and the shiny side down.

Negative this morning and now got AF. At least I know I can drink to excess moderately at the wedding this weekend. I couldn't count yesterday - my cycle was 28 days this time which is what it was pre DS. Hope to get the BFP soon but not testing till 4 weeks have passed next time. Thanks for the replies.
