Pregnancy

No real weight gain. When should I be worried?

I'm 22 weeks, and so far I've put on about 2lbs.

I had my scan last Wednesday so I know everything is healthy with the baby, but I'm just a bit concerned about my lack of weight gain.

I weighed 8st3lb before I got pregnant, and I'm fairly small (5'1) so my BMI was classed as normal.

I'm eating normally so I don't know why I'm not putting weight on... should I ask my GP, or will they just roll their eyes at me?

Thanks Smile

I wouldn't worry, I'm 18wks with my second and don't think I've gained anything yet (I'm 5'10 and about 11 and a half stone ish).

Last time I gained a stone and a half throughout pregnancy and it was all bump. As baby grew I expanded so it looked like I'd swallowed a beach ball!! I'm fully expecting the same thing this time Grin

I'd gained about 2ib too at 21/22 weeks I'm now 29 and gained 10ib. So its normal don't worry, I was 8st 6 pre preg and 5'6. With my last I only gained 4ib at full term from my pre pregnancy weight cause I'd been so ill for first 5 months, he was born totally healthy and 9ib. I think aslong as your eating good etc then its not a huge concern I find I gain the most in my last trimester :) ds1 I gained 4st, so all mine have been completey different xx

I have put on about 8lb now (29 weeks tomorrow), but it has only happened quite recently. I have quite a big bump now and at a scan just before 28 weeks they estimated the baby weighed 1.1kg and all measurements were fine.

If your Midwife was not worried and everything was good at your scan try not to worry. You may just start to gain in the last trimester.
