Just wondering if any of you ladies have any idea what the service is? I feel sick already at the thought that I've been referred like this baby was an unplanned shock. OH and I spent months planning for him/her and now I'm preparing to be treat like a naughty child. Ive been automatically referred but is there anyway to only have one appointment. I have a job and education and don't really want to be categorized for my age. I know I'm probably being silly..

I don't think they'll treat you like a naughty child if you explain your situation.

Teens are statistically at a higher risk of preeclampsia, PND, premature births and high blood pressure - so it will be to monitor your more closely to help with any potential issues there.

Many teens do have unplanned pregnancies and are not as educationally, emotionally or financially prepared so many do need more help. I wouldn't take it personally, just clarify your situation and take all the free help you need.

You have been referred because of your age - not whether the baby was planned etc.

I got reffered too with my first pregnancy, it was no different care to my 2 pregnancys after, its just for extra support if you need it thats all. They arnt judgy etc its just simply to help and keep a check cause as said above teenage pregnancys do have slightly higher risks xx

You probably don't have to but I would gofor first meeting and if I gelled with the midwife I'd take all the extra support I could get.
Similar but different I live next to a deprived area and fall into their catchment. It means I get free guided birth (like hypnobirth sort of) classes and acupuncture. Even though I'm not their target audience I am happy to use these resources that have been laid on...
