Im currently 31+4 pregnant and have been suffering with heartburn for a good while now.. It was horrible but i managed to get to sleep by propping myself up on lots of pillows. Last night though i kept waking up and sicking up a little, i just had a few sips of water to get rid of it and went back to sleep each time, but tonight i dont know whats going on!! If i lay down, even when im propped up on all my pillows, i feel like my throat is full of food or whatever it is, then every single time i nearly drop off, i sick up loads of water/acid in my mouth, it feels just watery but tasted like acid Confused its so horrible i cant sleep and i cant even lie down now im sitting up just to make sure i dont throw up Blush i ate dinner at about 7:45 and went to sleep at 9:30, if that makes a difference? any help? To be honest i just wanted to tell someone how crappy i feel!

gaviscon is your friend, seriously I've got a pack in my handbag, next to my bed, a bottle in the bathroom, rennies in the living room, I've started pre empting things and have one of the selection before bed, seems to help, and FWIW sipping a little milk before meals(if you get heartburn just after) does wonders, dont gulp it, just teeny sips,

would love to say it gets better but at 37+2 I have a structure of pillows to prop me up and comfyish and my gaviscon close by, if it wasn't for them I think I'd have gone nuts?

sorry to hear you've got it rough too Thanks

I've found having dinner earlier and taking a gulp full of Gaviscon before bed helps. Also, I try and have either an milky ice pop, milk or some ice before bed too.

I found eating dinner earlier helps too - don't have anything to eat at least a few hours before you go to bed. And agree with the Gaviscon, I've made my way through a massive bottle!

Have you any Yogurt in the house? That seemed to help with me. Once the baby moves down a bit it will ease, but I remember it well.

I found gaviscon didn't work for me.

I bought Tescos own chewable tablet fruit flavoured thing. It's a bit chalky but they taste lovely and it worked start away. So maybe you could try them?

Wide awake since 2.30am with it. I'm 39 weeks now and not quite sure how I've coped! Ditto the rennies/peptac/gaviscon in every room and handbag. The minute I slide down my pillows Im awake with it. Sorry I know that's not what you want to hear!

Cold water is not your friend. Cold full fat milk might be. Give that a try. It is horrible, you have my sympathy Thanks

Don't suffer. Go to your GP and get proper medication. Ask for omeprazole.

try eating almonds or almond milk. these are supposed to be good for soaking up the acid. (i went to a specialist doctor/nutritionist y,day and this is what she told me. i have been given a list of foods to avoid and to eat more alkaline foods, avoiding acidic foods as this is what contributes to the sickness and heartburn.) makes sense to me. but yea, heartburn is a biatch!! i get it in the mrnings on waking, can feel the acid just sitting in my throat, its horrid!
