Am I worried about nothing!!!

Hi there I'm 29 and I've been trying to conceive for for the last 6 months and nothing is happening, I'm still having regular periods and they come every 28 days. 2 years ago I had a miscarriage and I'm very worried that something is wrong with me. I may sound really silly but just seem to be getting this six sense that something is wrong. I've tried to work out my ovulating days and done as they say and nothing's happened. Could it be me or am I completely over reacting. I've wanted to be a mum for so long and I work with children too. Thanx for ur time Sarah.

Try not to worry, it can take years to get pregnant :/ if there is something up, address it in the future but I'm sure you'll be fine Flowers

If your periods are regular, I would give it another 6-12 months then look into it medically in case of any probs. Chances are good it won't take that long. Good luck, I tried for 15 months and it was the hardest thing I've ever gone through but I'm pregnant now (I had PCOS and irregular periods so needed treatment). Your regular periods and age are good signs. I'm not saying this is a magic wand but be as healthy as you can, be kind to yourself and maybe try something like acupuncture as that helped me relax when ttc and there are some theories it can help with fertility, within reason. Lots and lots of luck Thanks

Oh I should have said it will depend on your GP how long you have to try for before checking things if your periods are regular. Also have you seen the conception boards on there, they're really supportive too.

Have you read zita West's conception book, it's interesting and useful.

One thing she suggests is regularly having sex throughout the month, as you might be ovulating earlier or later than you expect.

Good luck!

If Ur periods are regular and there is no known issue you will have to be TTC for 2 years before a gp is allowed to refer you for fertility investigations. If there is a known condition its 1 year (my mate went to Dr about this last week)

Try getting some ovulation tests and using them to check when u r ovulating

sometimes the best thing to do is try and relax about it, hard I know, but if you're stressing your body won't be kind to you,

best thing to do IMHO is have fun, stop 'trying' so hard and enjoy DTD with the person you want this baby with Grin

The conception boards are helpful here and you'll get lots of advice there.

6 mths ttc is early to be getting worried, but its easy to get worried I know. The docs generally won't refer you until you've been ttc for at least a year, but there is no rule that says when they can and can't refer you - it's not set at 2 years as a pp has stated.

Understanding your cycles is a big help, so perhaps try reading 'Taking charge of your fertility' by Toni Welscher (sp?) and use ovulation sticks or perhaps invest in a Clearblue Digital Fertility Monitor. You can pick them up 2nd hand on eBay (they can be reset for the next person to use) for a good price and the sticks are not too bad on Amazon.

Failing that, book a holiday somewhere hot and exotic for the end of the year.....you're bound to fall pregnant an have to cancel! Sod's law!!

Seriously though, good luck. I remember how tough it is when you want it so badly but there's every reason to believe it will happen soon.

Hi, I had a similar experience to you and after a mc it took
9 months for me to fall pregnant. My partner and I are convinced we now know why! After a few months of not falling pregnant, I purchased the ovulation kits and followed advice on your best days to conceive etc. we stuck to this for months and it wasn't until I went for an ovary scan (I nearly cancelled as my period literally stopped the day before) that the nurse said that I had a really good egg in my right ovary ready and said that my partner and I should start doing it straight away. Anyway, went home and my partner and I started doing it for the next few days and low and behold I fell pregnant. We were never trying the day after my period or even first few days after my period as these days weren't meant to be the right date that I was ovulating. I am convinced that this is why it didn't happen earlier as we were so fixated around the kits and advice! If I had known, I would have been trying every day and obviously now know the best time for me in the future is the day after or few days after my period. Best of luck X

Have sex every other day rather than trying to chart ovulation is what worked for me but if you're worried you're not ovulating, I second the idea of the digital fertility monitor - will put your mind at rest at least.

I know what you are going through. Me and DF had been TTC for 3 years. I'm 35 and he's 45 so age wasn't on our side, and added to that DF was really ill last year with an ongoing condition that could have affected his fertility.

Anyhows, I'm now 9+3 and all is going well.

The stress and pain of those 3 years though was awful. Especially in the first 18 months. After 2 years I went to my GP and had my bloods done to check I was ovulating etc and all was fine so we decided to carry on for another 12 months and if nothing happened we'd pack it in.. I'd already decided against any invasive tests or treatments and as my periods were like yours (ie clockwork) I assumed I was ovulating regualrly.

As I wasn't going to have another baby (I have a DD aged 8 from a previous relationship) I put a deposit down on a new horse.

Lo and behold, AF was late, I was constipated and had sore boobs so did a test and got my BFP!

I put the problems we were having down to not DTD on the right days. I had looked on the web and charted when I thought I was ovulating and for 5 days before we DTD every day. By the 6th or 7th day neither of us could be arsed. Because that particular month we hadn't bothered DTD on any specific day 2 days after I thought I had ovulated (therefore too late according to my theory) we had sex. I think that is when I caught.

So my advice is to 1) put down a deposit on a v.expensive baby horse and 2) don't worry about when the web and the books and the little pee sticks (did them too!) tell you to DTD, do it whenever the urge takes you lol.

If you have had a MC (sorry for your loss) you can fall pregnant. Obviously that bubba wasn't meant to be but the next one will, according to the statistics be a sticky baby.
