Baby hasn't moved!

MissSG · 19/05/2013 15:36

I'm 29 weeks Pregnant and I haven't felt the baby move since yesterday morning. Today I have ate loads of fruit and also drunk a cold fruit smoothie and the baby still hasn't moved.

I have got my whooping cough injection with the nurse tomorrow so should I ask her if she can have a listen in?

Any advice would be appreciated!

Have you tried ice cold water?

I would suggest you ring in the maternity assessment line or midwife.

I'd ring the triage line now as they will usually get you to come in and put you on a monitor to put your mind a rest, no point in waiting and worrying! Tell them you've done the cold drink etc.

Keep us posted, sure all is fine but best to get reassurance! x

Agree, I'd go and get checked out.

Its likely all is fine, but best to get checked :)

Thank you for the replies, I haven't tried ice cold water. I'll do that now and if that doesn't work I will ring the midwife. I just didn't want to seem like I'm making a fuss, I wasn't sure how long you should leave it before contacting someone so thank you for helping there.

Try a cup of English breakfast tea- small amount of caffeine might just give baby a nudge. I fell down the stairs about 25 weeks and was worried and that helped, felt baby move after drinking.

Or cold coke, if you've got some.

Don't worry about coke or water or tea - just call your maternity assessment unit (number should be on your notes) now and go in and get checked over.

At 29 weeks baby has lots of room to move still so may just have turned round and is kicking towards your back so you can't feel it but ANY change in baby's movement pattern should be properly checked out.

They won't mind seeing you I promise - let us know how you get on

Just get it checked out ASAP please!!

They really won't think you are wasting their time. This happened to me last week and I was told to come straight in and was put on a monitor for an hour or so. Of course, she was pretty active throughout, but she hadn't been moving normally before then. They told me before I left to not hesitate to call again if I was worried for any reason.

Please don't wait, they really won't mind.

Go and get checked now.

Please don't waste any time with drinks, go and get seen immediately.

Ring now and get checked out. Do it now. Baby has probably just moved into a different position but should always be checked.

Agree with Cloverer - do not waste time doing anything at home, phone the maternity unit/day assesment centre and go in now, im sure everything is fine but if there was a problem the sooner it is discovered the better your babies chances are. Let us know how you get on.

It's 45 minutes since OP last posted. I hope she's on her way for a check.

For anyone else reading.
Same sort of thing happened to me, except I felt a lot less movement rather than none.
I went to GP who sent me to hospital for a scan that afternoon.
There was a problem. It all worked out fine. But I did have to be closely monitored for many weeks.

The cold drinks is just something you can do that might quickly put your mind at rest. Cold drink, lie on sofa for 20 mins and see if you feel any movement. I've seen it recommended time and time again on here.

But yes, hopefully OP is getting checked out now and all is fine.

Hopefully you're being checked out now and everything is fine, MissSG ?

Sugary drink - cola or something like that.

Hope you've been checked, or spoken to someone though?

MissSG · 19/05/2013 19:16

I have been checked out and baby is absolutely fine! :) Just having a lazy couple of days. I was told to come back whenever I felt I had too.

Thank you so much for the replies.

Glad to hear all is ok. FWIW current RCOG guidelines suggest lying down on left hand side and if less than 10 movements in 2 hours, definitely go in to get checked.

I've had to do this a couple of times in this pregnancy as baby felt different after turning from breech to cephalic presentation a couple of weeks ago.

Can honestly say that no MW I've ever spoken to while doing it has ever made me feel like a timewaster so I'd always suggest at least a phone call if it it happens again and it's always nice to hear baby's heartbeat for half an hour on the CTG if they ask you to go in.
