Advice about bleeding in EP

Hi everyone,

I am currently 8 weeks pregnant, on Wednesday, I started bleeding. I was seeing the midwife when it started. She rang EPAU and got me a scan for Monday. I thought that was to far away but she said as long as bleeding was steady she wasn't too worried. Throughout Wednesday the bleeding got worse and I have had clots as well. I've got pain but only period type pains. At night the bleeding stops then gets gradually worse again throughout the day. Went to see GP yesterday (Thursday) and he wasn't to worried as I wasn't in too much pain. I've done 4 tests over the days and all still positive. I don't know if I can wait until Monday to find out what's happening. Going out of my mind. We were so excited about the prospects of having a baby and are devastated about this. Any advice would be welcome.

Thank you

hi I started bleeding about 5 weeks and bled on and off till about 14 weeks and am now 17 weeks nearly and all is fine so please try not to panic!! is it bright red blood or brown as they told me brown is old blood and is nothing to worry about usually and the period type pains are normal too I got told they are your womb being aware that it is loosing something that it shouldn't be but as long as the pain is not too bad it should be ok going by what I have been told at the epau! fingers crossed for you and I cant believe they have made you wait that long I had mine the same day you must be going out of your mind xxx

I bled on and off from 5 weeks til 11 weeks. I'm now 14 weeks and everything is fine.
Try not to stress and when bleeding try lying on ur back with ur feet up on a cushion as that is what the hospital advised me.
Good luck and please let us know how u get on xx

Can you afford to pay for a private scan? There are Babybond clinics all over the country and are open on weekends x

Im sorry to hear about your bleeding jen1990, Im keeping fingers crossed for you hon. Waiting till monday is a nightmare. Im actually in a similar situation with you, I spent the morning in A&E from 6am till about 11am, as I noticed slight spotting yesterday and this morning. At first the doctor on call didnt think I was miscarrying because I didnt have any severe cramps or sharp pains but the bleeding got progressively worse as the morning went on and by the time I saw the gyno and she examined me it was quite evident that I am indeed miscarrying, (Im 6 weeks tomorrow) my cervix is slightly open too. So now im at home just riding it out, waiting for my scan on monday morning and secretly hoping that I will be one of those women who go on to have a healthy baby but bleed during pregnancy. I know this is not true. Ive had 2 healthy pregancies before with absolutely no soptting which resulted in my DS 2 and a half and my dd 11 months. In between I had another miscarriage at 5 weeks. I never thought I would miscarry twice and am now starting to worry that there is something wrong with me. Im 36. I know its much worse when you havent had any children but a loss is still a loss...

I had a several bleeding episodes (light) between 6 and 9 weeks and spoke to midwife, gp, nhs direct, an on call doctor and even went to a&e. not once was I offered an early scan so its really good that you have even been given one, even if you do have to wait.

I'm sure everything will all be fine, try to rest but find something to keep your mind off it till your scan.

Good luck

Thanks LandsN I really appreciate it. Unfort for me things have gone from bad to worse so I know that tomorrow morning my scan will confirm the mc. I hope that is not the case for anyone else out there. I keep asking why which i know is only inevitable and a very human reaction but nevertheless. I know there is hope out there though thanks for sharing your story LandsN Goodluck to all the ladies out there, sending lots of prayers for healthy babies to all xxxxx

Hi, thank you for all replying to me. So sorry to hear some of your stories :( . It's been a tough week, had scan on Monday and they confirmed I had miscarried at 8 weeks. I'm devastated!! Still trying to come to terms with it. But we have agreed to try again when the time is right. Fingers crossed for next time now. Hope you are all well xxx
