Any ideas on a small gift to give DH from me & the baby when it's born?

I know he gets a baby, but I want to give him a small gift. It's his first baby. I have 2 daughters 19 & 13, whom I'm buying a silver necklace each from their tiny sibling, myself & my husband.. But I'm totally stuck what to get Daddy! Any ideas would be great.

I've tried, really, really hard but I cannot see why he should get anything - his baby making contribution is much less taxing than yours Wink

Unless you want to get him something practical like a manly nappy bag, a baby carrying rucksack or similar?

Seriously, making him a daddy is the greatest gift of all. You'd need to give him a kidney or something to equal it!

I can understand the siblings getting something, but I struggle to see why the baby's dad should! Get him something for fathers' day after he's changed a few shitty nappies and enabled you to have a good lie in or several.

HA! The joke in our house is that i gave dh ds1 for his 30th and then ds2 for his 40th..he should be grateful...and is Grin

Nice thought but unnecissary i would say.

To be honest, I wouldn't be buying a present for anyone.

Though maybe some photos in a frame several weeks down the line (but I'd do that for Christmas, Fathers Day etc). Baby footprint thing also good.

I think it's a lovely idea and I would like to do the same for my DH. I'm so grateful to him for looking after me so well throughout the pregnancy, and he played a fairly huge part in me becoming pregnant with my very PFB.

Let me know if you think of anything :) x

The best gift you can give him is not to laugh when you remember him crying right after your baby's born. Definitely not telling all your friends too.

This might have happened to me somebody I know.

Porn.

Get you out of any more nookie until you feel up to it.

Porn? Hmm

You can get out of sex any time you like by just saying no.

I know that. Was supposed to be funny but couldnt find my smiley face on my phone.

My OH would definately appreciate some porn now I think. Am 8+2 and went off nookie at about 3+4 poor lad.

Bought mine a case of wine with the bounty discount voucher..he'll be drinking it alone until I stop bf though!
First time I just framed a couple of newborn photos for his work desk.
You can get baby finger print jewellery and I'm pretty sure there is a cuff link & key ring option.

I think it is a fab idea personally - i was thinking something similar myself since I know his in doors will get me something small too. My DH loves his whisky so i was thinking of getting a nice bottle of that - or a couple of 'naice' glasses to have it out of, which he could then keep. Failing that I might get him a box of his fave chocs, to scoff when i am in hospital overnight etc, and a frame to put a piccie of him and the baby in - sometimes I find the smallest things you get someone, that just show the thought, end up meaning the most. I also think a porn mag is a fab idea. I am sorely tempted to get it for a laugh! Grin

p.s. I apologise for the use of the word 'fab' - twice! I think my brain is slowly reducing itself to the size of an acorn at the moment....

I think it's a lovely idea I would say anything saying daddy on it, maybe even if you have a name already for baby you could get it personalized with something like love from -. I actually got my partner something similar with daddy on and then a few weeks later had it engraved with the actual date he became daddy :) x x

I got DH a couple of little things from the baby including a 'Dad' mug, old fashioned sweets and a couple of books he could read to her. One was called What Does Daddy Do? So really appropriate. I ordered them all from Amazon and unbelievably they arrived on the morning DD was born at home! It was perfect timing and DH loved it.

Could you get the baby an 'I love daddy' suit to wear when you leave hospital?

Or could a friend make the pair of you a hamper of lovely food you haven't been able to have whilst pregnant to share when you get home?

He better bloody be getting you a present!!

Is not growing and giving birth to a baby enough?

Personally my dh is getting the baby, an unpregnant me back, far nicer and more useful than a pregnant me! A fully packed freezer of meals to see us through.

I think it's a lovely idea. DP was talking about getting a little something for me (i have my eye on a lovely ring from etsy) and he's been an absolute star throughout my pregnancy.

I've bought ds (7) a skylanders bag and strategy guide from his little bro and for DP (huge star wars fan), this book- it's adorable and funny.
www.amazon.co.uk/Darth-Vader-Star-Wars-Chronicle/dp/145210655X/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1368779076&sr=8-11&keywords=star%20wars%20baby%20book&tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21

I don't think it needs to be anything big, but i think it's a nice gesture.

I think it's a fab idea I want to do something like this for my partner yes they get a baby at end too but they 'miss' so much if the magic we get to fell and the evil symptoms but I do feel they are left out of process too much something personal is wonderful. I know he wants a tattoo of his name when do is born maybe I could do something like that. I'm also planning an early shoot with a nice large canvas of baby maybe get a nice pic of just them two also?

My FIl was given a ring by MIL when she had their last baby, he wears it all the time.

Would never have occurred to me either, but at a push, I'd suggest some decent coffee. Smile
