namechanger- know people on here in RL and haven't told DP yet.

Ironically came off pill in new year because I felt that one day I would forget to take it and get pregnant- decide to go onto the Depo-Provera.

Now I'm only bloody pregnant.

Couldn't understand why I kept putting on weight- despite running and dieting, felt that it was a side effect of the depo.

Last week felt some 'flutterings' in my stomach- over this past week have noticed that my stomach is much 'harder' than usual.

Decided to do a PG test today- BFP.

DS1 is 13 in sept and DS2 is 10 in July-

i was promoted last year and this all just awful timing- life was getting easier with the kids- had visions of DP and I being able to actually 'do couple stuff' within the next few years.

im not 'sad' - just disappointed in myself. Thought the days of sleepless nights and nappies were way behind me.

We can just about afford another baby (just).

Going to GP tomorrow to see if I can get a scan because if I can feel flutterings, I'm clearly not 'just pregnant'.

and I can't even begin to find way to tell my best friend- who is just about to start her 7th round of IVF.

Confused

hope all goes well with your gp, dont forget to mention that you had the jab as i dont know what effect (if any) iit could have

flutterings could mean your 16 weeks+ i would guess??

no idea what you should say to your best friend, cross that bridge when you have seen gp, talked to oh had scan etc....

Wow, I can imagine that must be a huge shock. I know there are people on here who have had similar situations so hope someone can offer useful advice.

Good luck.

DB and I were similar ages when my DSisters were born. I wouldn't change our family, despite there being a few hard year's.

Went to GP today - she then referred me on to see the Midwife. Two lovely midwives there - put me at ease.

I said that I didnt have a clue how far gone I was - only that i had a False test just before having my first depo at the beginning of december. I had my second depo in Feb but didnt have a test done then (obviously both myself and the nurse assuming that the depo would have worked)

Midwives both did palpations. They said they they think im around 24 weeks.

DP hasnt taken it very well. Im not taking it very well- feel utterly sick.

Im gutted that an attempt to be 'safer' has actually resulted in me being pregnant.

24 weeks? Wow. That's quite late to be just finding out, but of a shock I imagine . Hope your ok.

Im floored. Just booked a private dating scan for tomorrow to confirm exact date but both midwives felt certain it was around that mark.

Hardly put any weight on, been training for half marathon- still wearing same clothes.

Wow, 24 weeks Shock Must be a huge shock for you, give yourself plenty of time to get your head around it.

We had dc3 when DCs 1&2 were 12 and 8. It was great Smile So great, in fact, that we followed with dc4 2yrs later! The older ones love the littlies and tbh, although life would be so much easier had we stuck to the original plan of just 2 DCs, it's been lovely doing it all over again.

Will check for update after tomorrow's scan Smile

don't be disappointed with yourself - you were on contraception, this is just one of those things you can't control.

it'll be a big adjustment but when you're ready come and visit the september 13 ante-natal thread. we're very nice. (I'm 24wks today).

I had funny stomach and found I was 24 weeks pregnant as well. Congrats. Hope you manage to settle into it ok. It took awhile, but having watched friends agonise for a full 9 months, I think a 3 month pregnancy feels a little easier! Grin

OMG! Congratulations! I?m 24 weeks today and can?t imagine not knowing I was pregnant. This is my first pregnancy so my experience may be totally different to you who is going through it for the third time but surely you must have felt some of the symptoms?! If not, wow, that?s amazing!!! I?ve gained a stone since finding out, have a big protruding belly, boobs are bigger, hips wider and I?m more sensitive than ever ? emotionally and physically.

I commend you for all that training? despite being a regular gym-goer, I sure as hell couldn?t have done that! Good luck with it all. x

Im amazed that I have got this far and not noticed a thing- but all the strange things that i was experiencing (increased urination a few months ago- weight gain etc) I attributed to the depo- but now obviously they must have been pregnancy symptoms.

Just feel a bit lost to be honest- truly overwhelmed. its not the end of the world - I have to keep telling myself this- I'm blessed to be able to have children- my BF is not and I have to remind myself of this when I cry and scream 'SHIT".

Im lucky to be an NHS employee so my Maternity pay will be reasonable- I'm just scared of childcare costs and how this will dent our income.

and how do you explain to your friends and family that you have a baby on the way- in the next couple of months???!!!??

My third was a surprise with a large age gap. My first reaction was so negative and I wasn't sure that I could go through with it all and my DCs were behaving like I'd done it simply to embarrass them. I have much sympathy for you. It takes a while to get used to the idea but it will work.
