20 week scan - single artery umbilical

Sonographer said it was a normal variant and didn't seem concerned. I do however need to go back for another scan at beg of July, just to check the baby's growth.

Of course I've now done my own research and see that SUA can, in 25% of cases, be a marker for more serious problems. Has anyone else had experience of SUA? I've been taking lots of medication for sickness and anxiety throughout first tri, so obviously concerned this anomaly could have been caused by meds. I'm guessing because no other problems were detected they didn't see a need for any further tests, but I'm worried. Should I consider genetic testing?

My mum had this in her pregnancy for my sister, sis is now 29 yo is and always has been completely fine, smaller than me at birth, but I was 8 days late, she was around due date.

I had this with DD3 born January 2013. Slightly smaller than her sisters but perfectly healthy and a shocked midwife in the theatre (CS) asking where the rest of the umbilical cord was... the one umbilical artery that she did have doubled in width to cope with carrying the extra fluid. Hope that sets your mind at rest.

Not me but a friend's sister had this with her second pregnancy. She had a gorgeous healthy baby boy.

I have this with my current pregnancy, I'm 40+1. All my measurements have been a week behind and they do extra scans. My 1st DD was small born but they reckon they will be similar size. My bump is really small to. They don't seem to be overly concerned about it tho
